  1. I know I open myself up to all manner of plebian pablum, but I simply must inquire: What the fuck is a goddamn gaper?
  2. And your point is....?
  3. Hey wait, somethi ng's wrong here! Isn't this a big rant about why ranting is such a terrible thing???
  4. You're obviously better at math than life; get back to your studies before you fail!
  5. How much does it cost, and what's the prize list? Can trask win a date with you?
  6. Come on, Greg, don't be so grandiose. Are you saying we shouldn't have taxes? Taxes are and will always be a form of wealth-redistribution, with the rich needing to pay their fair share. Shit, even Bill Gates and his dad support fair taxation, lobbying hard against the removal of the inheritance tax. I guess you'll never really understand that we as people are in this thing together, this thing called life. Your approach seems to be usually limited to "me and mine". Well, that's your problem. Good Luck! Can you tell me what this is about about? Haven't heard of it.... Again, please don't be so grandiose. I don't expect the government to "solve all" our problems, but it can do more than it's doing. Right now the government works mainly to "solve all" the problems of the wealthy corporate elites; I don't think one can reasonably deny this. I personally believe in the motto: "A government by the people, for the people." And yes, the only way this can be accomplished is by active participation. And you know what's infuriating? Our voter turn-out is pretty pathetic, right? Well, if the damn people who don't vote could be gotten to the polls, the majority of them would vote more liberal, as in Democrat! (This was a study I read during the last election. Can't remember where.) Damn lazy Democratic whiners! You're so right in this case, Greg. I'd have a hard time thinking you'd be lining up to help the families in need, greg. There are plenty of families in need already, but all I hear from you is name-calling: "lazy welfare moms!" Such generalizations, greg!
  7. I know I know. I'm sick of all the people dying because of over-taxation! Come on Greg, the only people that should be paying taxes are the ones that can afford it! The inequity in wealth distribution is one of the most egregious problem we have here, IMO. It'll do the uninsured good, who now number something like 50 mil? Well, usually you'll learn about the UN and human rights in history/current events, and math in math class. That solved that one, right? Or do you suggest we start schools where the only curriculum is..umm...math? Hey Greg, maybe you haven't noticed, but we're in the middle of some silly little thing called a recession. Dang inconvenient recessions! Unemployment just went up again, to a ten year high. Shoot. It couldn't be that there simply aren't JOBS right now, could it? And yes, these departments ARE trying to protect their budgets, when an administration has stepped in that's more hostile to the average working-class joe than any other since, well, the last republican in office!
  8. Well, this sport-climber/boulderer has the impression that it doesn't come into real good shape until late winter/early spring. I tried it last year in Feb? and encountered tons of unconsolidated snow. March/April is best???? Although I don't see why you couldn't do it any time of year....
  9. Well, I just tried Trask's method, but I'm still in the dark, as I was before. Help! The heptaparaparshinokhsaurus is after me!
  10. So PP, in other words, one cannot "apply" this Heptaparaparshinokh diddly-doo to one's life, it just kinda happens? I am frightened that these things are happening without me even knowing it; is there any way to STOP this thing before it gets out of control?
  11. I do see it as happening, but what's funny is that what one sees as the encroachment on our liberty depends on the side of the fence one is sitting. I see universal healthcare as a boon to personal liberty. Do you know the stresses encountered by the uninsured? Such stress does not create liberty; just the opposite. "...the inculcation of our children that government is the answer...". What are you referring to here? "...constant reinforcement that taking government handouts is a good thing..." And here? "...and on, and on, and on..." And here? I see as much more evil the ability to detain individuals indefinitely, under the guise of "national security", without legal representation, than any of the things you mentioned (The US citizen Padilla was finally granted representation, as the Gov squealed). And some of you have made the argument that if you haven't done anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about. Where do you draw the line? Hey, I'd say a GPS implant at birth would be the grandest scheme in keeping our country safe. I'm sure we could convince the US population of this. I mean, come on. If you haven't done anything wrong, you got nothing to worry about, right? (Remember, during the height of the silly "drug war", over 50% of those polled were in favor of some sort of mandatory drug testing for ALL americans. The people are so smart!.)
  12. Yeah, he kinda reminds me of Leonard Peltier, or maybe Mumia Abu-Jamal!
  13. I don't know how to apply it, PP. It sounds convincing, but I just don't know how to apply it.
  14. Well that's my whole point, Muffy. I don't think it would happen violently. I think it would happen softly, quietly, slowly, without most people even seeing it happen. Most people would be thinking that IT was happening FOR OUR OWN GOOD! Damnit, most people would give up almost all liberty, if they were promised security in return, and the irony is that they'd be singing the Freedom Song (we do this for freedom!) all the way! Most things don't happen in cataclysmic proportions; most things just happen, kinda quietly....
  15. Wadda ya mean, Muffy the Wanker Sprayer?
  16. BTW, nice foto of Josune. Did you vote for her? Come on......!
  17. Oh come on, trask. You're no fun! Just play the hypothetical game with me! Never be so sure that it couldn't happen. We are a very young nation, with a relatively short life so far. What will bring us down, if down we go? Of course it could be an internal coup of some sort. Remember, a state of emergency over-rides constitutional protections, dude. And a state of emergency can be justified in MANY ways. Why, I'd bet most americans could be conned into one right now! Do you really think we're that far away? So if it went down that road, I guess you'd be the one protecting the leadership, not the principles that this nation was founded on....
  18. Thinkin', thinkin'! BTW, as you're thinkin', think about this: Josune Bereciartu is only ahead by three votes! Get over there and cast your vote, quick!
  19. Ahh come on, trask! Gore's gonna be our next president! But what if our pres was overturning the constitution, usurping powers illegally? Like what happened in Germany with Hitler? Would there be a point when you would say "No more, Mr. President."? Or would you continue following him/her no matter what?
  20. Would you follow the US flag anywhere if Al Gore were president, or is your "patriotism" only a party-line item?
  21. It cracks me up how the self-avowed right here can never debate politics objectively and factually. They sink to demagoguery as soon as irrefutable points are brought up. How pathetic! I think you guys would follow the US flag straight to hell without question (which is where this whole bloody international mess seems to be headed) because to do otherwise would be "unpatriotic"! You guys bring a new dimension to blind patriotism!
  22. Healthy fingers, please!
  23. Not that that poem necessarily shows it, but it hints at the fact that AG was one of the fucking coolest organisms to grace our planet in the form of a human. Shit.
