  1. You're a skiing madman this spring! Cool tour Kevin. If you adjust your camera's EV value a stop or two in the positive, the light meter will adjust to expose sun and snow better, essentially overexposing. For what it's worth... Weren't you tempted to McGeyver some sunglasses out of duck tape? Save yourself four miles?
  2. Hey, at least my other foot was on the steering wheel.
  3. 80 mph too. Good times.
  4. I've only had it for the past couple weeks after trying to break in my new shoes. Yeah, sometimes walking does suck! Thanks for the info. I'm sure the pain will go away as soon as I treat the dogs a little nicer. I'll never try to break in shoes again that are smaller than my street shoe size. God how do people break in shoes one and two sizes smaller than their street shoe size??
  5. I recently tried to break in a new pair of climbing shoes. They caused so much pain in my toes, around the base of the big toe, I had to send them back. Now the knuckles of my big toe and second toe have this burning shooting pain. I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this while trying to break in a new pair of shoes. Does this pain eventually go away? Oh and I also stubbed my toe really bad as well last fall, which I think has made the pain worse. The photo indicates about where is the pain is.
  6. How do you know it isn't?
  7. Nice work bro! Good to see the Manaslu's back!
  8. It's amazing how foreshortening works. I've been fooled more than a few times.
  9. OK, OK. The approach was 'strenuous' but not particular bad. There was one shitty section of brushiness between 3300 and 3800 (for us at least). The rest wasn't too bad, especially the bigger boulder-hopping, slabs and snow. Nonsense!! Hook creek is littered with the bleached bones of those unable to endure the extreme suffering of this approach. Count yourself lucky. To all else, might I recommend Colchuck Lake or Stuart Lake.
  10. Very nice! The punishing approach to the Mesa has always deterred any notions of humping a heavy pack up Hook Creek. Good on you for suffering the vertical to camp in a wonderful setting!
  11. Thursday perhaps? If I can swing it at workie...
  12. I'm nauseas just watching this! Nice one Sol!
  13. Photos of said gear?
  14. Nice Val! Great linkup! First time led The Bone is heady. Well done. And I agree with Tyson, that last photo really captures the essence of your eastside weekend!

    Big Wall

Standing in front of El Cap for the first time ever is a big wall.
  16. The next time you gun for your chosen classic on Snow Creek Wall, be advised that there is significant and highly impressive windfall at the scw turnoff. You will not recognize it anymore. The creek is still passable as the multitude of older growth that were blown over thankfully fell perpendicular to the creek. With enough traffic, the trail will re-emerge. I'm guessing it was wind that caused this since there is not the usual pile of snow and tell -tale signs of an avy. One of the more impressive blowdowns I've ever seen! It's worth a look see.
  17. Awesome. Thanks for the update Dave!
  18. Cool thanks for the information! this is good to know...
  19. Any update on the state of the latrines up there?
  20. Thanks for the fotos Kevin! Man, it almost looks like you can ski the S. Ridge of Ingalls!
  21. That's a kick ass photo of your turns! Did you ditch the Manaslu's for some different planks?
  22. Hola! Check your PM's re: Patagonia puffer! Thanks! John
  23. Some hefty cornices overhanging that face but maybe the warm temps in the next couple days will take care of that.
  24. I think we just found the next big "thing" in extreme sports! Couloir glissading. I've always wanted to glissade triple couloirs.
  25. Cool trip! Holden is a gem! Nice going.
