Just got my Salomon Super 9 Guides and I am looking for tips on fine tuning the fit (the instructions are not too detailed). I'm referring to both the heat moldable insoles and the fitted tongue. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Dennis

My 2 cents. If you're going to go through all the expense and logistics to climb Denali, pick a route other than the Butt (assuming you have intermediate mountaineering skills, can operate without a guide, and have been higher than 15,000', I would recommend Muldrow Glacier, its a bit of a walk just to the Glacier, but less crowded than the Butt)

Has anyone used these yet? Are all the adjustments overkill? More things to go wrong and fall off?

I've had this jacket for two years and lots of abuse. I love it. Warm, stuffs small, no frills, bells or whistles to break, and slides easily under a shell. -
I'm one click away from buying new tools.Down to Grivel Rambo II's (1 hammer, 1 alp2) orCharlet Moser Pulsars. (1 hammer, 1 adze) Help me decide. Climbing WI3 to 4+ and mixed alpine. Thx,D

My opinion was limited to the very specific, energy sucking and particular situation of the so called "death zone". (i.e. could Jon K. have helped) A climber cannot go there and expect that he will be rescued. He must plan on relying only on himself. My opinion would change if the geography involved was rescue from a crevasse in Boston Basin or off of Baker. Antoli saved several lives, no question. Even Beck Weathers passed on the first chopper flight in '96 to let the other injured climber go first - could I have done what these men did? Don't know until I was in that situation, but I hope so. -

Above 20,000, unless your a guide, you have no obligation to saves someone's ass. They chose to be there, accepted the risk and if they chose wrong, life sucks. Would I risk my ass to save my team member, yes, absolutely. Would I risk my ass to save a stranger, no. -
I met Jon at a booksigning for Thin Air. Humble, quiet and down to earth. Would trust him on the other end of the rope.

Share Share Share. I too get tired of hearing about 5.14's. I'd rather read about the 5.7 and 5.8's.

Go back at the site and check out all the "extreme woman" Yikes!! I sat next to Tara Llanes and her boyfriend coming back from Seattle last year. She is a natural beauty, not an ounce of make-up and down to earth.

My turn to bitch. May I start by saying that I believe all fathers should support their children, as I have done faithfully for the last 10 years. Once again the bimbo beast bitch from hell is taking me back for more money. She has not worked in 10 years. She has neither gained a skill or any education to increase her earning capacity in that time. Needless to say, my wife is not pleased, as more cash now goes out the door, meaning less for my family. Penalized for working hard, seeing white trash rewarded for keeping the couch warm. Thank you for your time, I remain, sincerely a menace

Guy walks into a bar with a 25 lb piece of asphalt under his arm. He says to the bartender, give me 2 beers, one for me... and one for the road.

Great thread. I'm a father and climber, in that order. Some of my kids climb, some don't, it's their choice. I'd rather have my 12 year old daughter look up to Tori Allen than Britany Spears.
