  2. It may surprise no one that there was a day when I'd never think about expressing praise for John Ashcroft. But my mind is changed now, and I've something different to say. Today I say Ashcroft deserves a Medal of Freedom award for when he was hospitalized but still mustered the strength to tell Gonzales to go fuck himself. Damn near in a coma, yet approached by Gonzales to sign off on the latest conspiracy by the Bush Crime Family, Ashcroft refused. Now, while it's true the recent Senate hearings revealed that FBI agents were on the scene that day as specifically ordered to protect Ashcroft from manipulation by Gonzales, I still say Ashcroft deserves recognition for taking a stand for the Constitution instead of for the Boss. For me, there's a big difference between political differences and organized, political crimes. I've only pity and scorn for those here who apparently cannot see that difference, yet I'd gladly shake the hand of John Ashcroft any day. There, I said it. My comments were not related to Gonzales' supposed 'crimes', but to the very topic you addressed above. The fact that you, and those like you were part of the posse that drove Ashcroft from office (read his book) make you partly responsible for the subsequent outcome. "Careful what you wish for" comes to mind. And you and Matt still haven't answered my question about who the next pinata will be.
  3. Remember when Ashcroft was the focus of Matt & Co's masturbatory angst? So who's gonna' be next on the lefty/lib hate flavor-of-the-week list? The suspense is killin' me!
  4. Isn't that exactly what Crux is doing?
  5. ...the above little unbiased snippet brought to you by an idiot who drinks his KoolAid at huffingtonpost.com Thankyou.
  6. You march with "World Can't Wait" and their American Communist Party sponsors and claim to love democracy? Interesting. If democracy isn't an ideal worthy of America, why the fuss about Iraq?
  7. Damn you, Administrator! That was "R" rated in my world - and one of the best projections I've ever seen.
  8. Sweden?!?! Can you show me where that is on this map? Sorry Fairweather, cc.com police can't have that stuff or cc.com will get blocked at the proxy and people will go nuts. /porter edit>
  9. BMW bike with an Aprilla engine Had one. Wasnt impressed. Actually, I think it's a Rotax...like the ones on hang gliders. I do envy the way Foraker (not so) cleverly wove "look at my cool new toy" into a faux political/religious hate thread - but I don't envy the 28 inch inseam required to ride that scooter, or the Samsonite luggage he has attached to it.
  10. We used to have those, but in this new age trials just help the terrorists. All we gotta do is say that Rove is an enemy noncombatant. So you're OK with Treetoad's idea?
  11. Right. And in another thread you're claiming Christians (?) are still burning witches. The point is a liberal poster here suggesting we lynch a departing public official who hasn't even been charged with anything - much less convicted. The reason? Treetoad doesn't like his politics.
  12. Bullshit. Mahar Arar was charged with and/or convicted of absolutely nothing prior to being shipped off to Syria So deportation is tantamount to punishment? Sounds to me like your gripe should be with Basher Assad. ...and non-uniformed enemy combatants are not.
  13. That's a BMW bike ...but not a BMW engine? Whassup with that?
  14. I'm not sure how it is in Canada, but down here we have these things called trials - and the accused must be convicted of something before they're punished. The fact that you suggest lynching (note the correct spelling, dip shit) leaves me wondering exactly what kind of justice a man or woman would find in your version of utopia.
  15. The memorial in Alaska that bears his name, of course. Ironically, McKinley had a political adviser by the name of Marcus Hanna who, like Rove, was considered just a bit underhanded - and was also considered "McKinley's brain". I'll bet this is the reason for Rove's stated admiration.
  16. McKinley was a Republican shot dead by an anarchist. I would have guessed you'd like him too.

    FOILED!

Should go nicely with your hat.
  18. You don't have a battery tester? Take the battery to a shop and see if it's putting out. Keep in mind that some chargers need to "read" a trickle from the depleted battery to activate. I've overcome this with Nikon batteries by running small gauge wire between the contact points on my spare battery and nesting the deceased unit into the charger just to get the charger to initiate. Obviously you don't have a spare battery. Also, check the Duracell or Energizer site to see if they have an off-the-shelf throw away version available. BTW: It's not a good idea to read directly off of your camera when downloading pics. Higher risk of data loss. You should get a card reader. Replacement Camera: I've had good luck with my small Casio. SD card, good color rendition, NP40 battery is easy to find/replace and lasts about 300 pics. I would avoid anything that uses cards (Olympus and Fuji) as I've been told repeatedly they're notorious for damage/data loss.

  20. Naw. Revolution seems to come from the countryside into the urban. What are a bunch of disgruntled lib urbanites gonna do? Hop into their Subaru's and go shoot up the town of Republic?
  21. Of course you realize that you must own a gun for them to work properly. A rifle totin' liberal? Now that's scaring me.
  22. Apples to Apples, Porter:
  23. I'm not an economist, but somewhere between the doom-and-gloom predictors and the don't worry be happy crowd lies the reality I'm sure. I wouldn't go as far as to say we're sitting on a house of cards, but the structure seems a little shaky nowadays. A mandatory-growth economy and housing starts at a 10-year low? Sounds scary to me. 7 million Americans facing foreclosure? Sounds scary to me. Am I going to go buy bullion, canned food, and a crate of .223? Not just yet. This economy still stands on faith, after all. And wheat prices are strong!
  24. Maybe its not so much that we shouldn't be involved with SA countries as we happen to have our hands full right now. I know what this guy would do.
