...got nothin' on junior Gore! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19601277/ "...was driving his Prius at 100 miles per hour..." I didn't even know those little bitch mobiles could go that fast.

You're confusing avatar with user name?
-
Matt said it. I believe it. That settles it!
-
You have to tie it all together with the whole that is ZZ. He has struck me as an apologist for these guys on at least one other occasion, and I suspect his celebration for this BBC fella's release is only part of why he's happy. Congrats!! After almost 3 years with that avatar, you're the first to accurately note its source. The VOC - Dutch East India Company - was (arguably) the first publicly held corporation, formed in 1602. I guess I thought it would be funny to attach their corporate symbol to my name as a sort of acknowledgment that I am perceived by many here beholden to corporate interests and all the evils therein. But now, thanks to you, the gig is up and I will begin my search for a new avatar soon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_East_India_Company

You're the cheesedick celebrating because some muslim terrorist thugs threw you a bone. One they kidnapped, for God's sake! The guy's alive - and that's good - but probably a few hundred others died today to satisfy the blood-lust of allah's most ardent followers. And of course, in your world, it's all our fault, I'm sure.

The real Matt! Why don't you step outside that box you're in and address the facts?
-
Did they let Daniel Pearl go yet?
-
Please don't shake Matt's box with facts, Jay. He doesn't like that. Also, for future reference, if there are any questions to be asked Matt will do the askin'. Got it? Here's a riddle: Can you name anyone else convicted of lying to investigators? Hmmmm. And do you recall the outrage from the left!

I recognize that beautiful yellow-painted cinder block of the Mile-0 Motel.

That's right. Thanks, in very large part, to the adoption and promotion of capitalist models world wide the past 30 or so years.

I still don't understand why the same folks who decry the government's most benign intrusions into its citizen's privacy are the very same one's who are so willing to turn over what is probably one of the most intimate parts of a their life - their health care and the personal issues that lie therein - to the state. You don't want the government listening to Sahib's overseas phone calls, but you don't mind if a government agent (aka "doctor") sticks a gloved hand up your rectum and records what he finds in a government database? Gimme a break. What I would like to see is health insurance companies punished severely - jail time for execs - for the practice of denying coverage in the hope that a patient will die before a necessary or hopeful procedure, however expensive, is performed. I would like to see HMO's held to the same care standards as open choice. I would also like to see some minimum coverage standards for children along the lines of those provided for the elderly - but with parents somehow still financially responsible for their care vis a vis community service, service in a daycare co-op, whatever.

I guess you're right. It was so foggy that I was pretty turned around, and with such a nice trail to follow I never did the bearing. So what was I looking at? Northwest, I believe. Those slabs look pretty nice.

Does anyone keep one? What type of format do you use? I have a journals that cover most of my trips over the past 25 years, but it's really just a couple of paragraphs, on a separate page for each adventure, contained in four cheap spiral bound notebooks mentioning peak, route, partners, date(s), conditions, and some semi-poetic thoughts. I would like to revise it, put it into something nice and durable, but it seems like things should remain in their original pen and format - as ugly as that may now seem. Is anyone ever gonna read the things I wrote? Waste of time? Any thoughts? Are pictures enough? What do you use?

Is it over between you and Mick?

Wow! That ranks right up there with Sky's Liberty Ridge ski picture. Thanks. Better watermark the shit outta that suckka. -
I'm not sure what's more dangerous: Bush's relatively minor misinterpretations of executive privilege - common to presidents throuought American history - or the gasoline that hysterical types like those here are throwing on the lit match? No one is suggesting we stifle debate (except Crux, MattP, and certain other Democrats bent on suppressing free political expression in media), but the rise of anger on the left is reaching heights that far exceed in-kind or appropriate levels. When those on the left don't get their way they will go to great lengths to justify their anger with vitriol about a broken system, stolen elections, or insults directed at the intellect of the general voting populace. You want a revolution? I say, bring it. But you won't end up with anything better than what we all have right now.
-
You haven't really thought that one through - have you?
-
Damn you Arch! You really know how to crush a man's spirit.
-
Employees, sure. We just went through a 5% purge last month. But I'm talking clients being viewed this way!

Can I ... "just watch"?

How is it that DV has taken over so many companies? Don’t know ask Olyclimber, Yoda should know these things. I guess it must be the farce. I think it has something to do with large corporations either grow or die. Mine is busy imploding without any invasion by the emperor's imperial forces. My latest response to yet more expense/service cutting in the name of short term gain: "Hey, I know a way we could cut our expenses to zero!" If I don't shut up and become a bobblehead I might be looking at a severance package very soon.

That last schrund/crevasse at the top doesn't look like it will be easily crossable for much longer. -
Are you suggesting we reign-in the excessive demands/"gains" extorted by labor unions? God forbid a UAW employee be asked to pay a single dime of their healthcare premium! Jim? You there? Cat got yer tongue?
-
I don't really see much to disagree with in those principles. But comparing the content therein to Mein Kampf just makes you yet another hysterical idiot. Shall we now label all mission statements with the tag? Or just those you don't like? I would think that your little bitch, Diane Feinstein, and her recent suggestion of legislation restricting free speech is more in line with the goals of Adolph Hitler. And you.
