  1. ...and all this time I thought it was 1/2mv squared...
  2. How many left to beat Muir on Saturday?
  3. Wow! Its amazing how fast the Hogsback is reforming and things are filling back in. It was pretty decimated this past summer and I thought the "old chute" would be the new route for years to come. Thanks for the pic.
  4. And with state taxpayers footing the bill, one might come to the conclusion that Seattleites seem...ungrateful.
  5. Isn't this video similar to how snowboarders exit chairlifts at Mt Baker?
  6. infantile
  7. juvenile
  8. Good post - for once. I would point out that TR was a "trust-buster" only - only because he feared a progressive/populist uprising. Regardless of his motivations, his successor - William Taft - tore down far, far more monopolies than Teddy. Crux - what do you think the ramifications of a Bloomberg entry into the race as an independent would be?
  9. There are some neat melt ponds and flat camping areas (both on and off snow) about halfway between Blue Glacier and the top of Snow Dome. I'll see if I have any pics. You can also camp across Snow Dome near the UW research hut at Panic Peak last I heard. Sorry, but I don't know about the horseback thing.
  10. Here's a link to a trip that sailed out of Port Townsend and climbed Fairweather - although their route description is vague. Supposedly there is a route up Sea Otter Creek/Glacier that climbs the west ridge from the Pacific, but it may be Carpe Ridge they're talking about. I've wanted to do this climb for a long time, but I'll likely take the "cheater's" route up the Northwest Basin from an air landing at 8000 feet if I ever go. Don't forget that the Fairweather Fault is about 20 years overdue for the big earthquake that rocks this region every 30 years or so. I would not want to be crossing Desolation Valley or anywhere near Lituya Bay when that happens. http://www.angelfire.com/or/petermarsh/mountfair.htm edit: My understanding is that GBNP modified their earlier strict rules and began allowing aircraft landings on Fairweather Glacier near the base of the Carpe years ago. If you're starting from the sea for personal reasons that is very cool. But you can bypass quite a bit of nastiness if you prefer.
  11. Edwards is the "do as I say and not as I do" candidate. Perfect match for Tvashy.
  12. WTF? I hope you're not trying to say Obama is a muslim. He certainly is not.
  13. Look at Tvashy...actin' all humble n'shit. About a complete fantasy, no less. What a dick.
  14. Of the three main Democrat nominees, he has the most honor. The only folks I've hear spewing the "ain't black enough" line are the Sharpton/Jackson/Wrangel types.
  15. Sounds like you are the Kook/whack-job. You really would vote for Guiliani? He is President of 911.....thats all. He is one sick twisted mutha f*cker. Why?
  16. Gotta admit I like listening to Obama speak. Too bad it all falls apart when I actually hear what he's saying.
  17. No denyin' that.
  18. True then. True today. Good find, Justin.
  19. I'll just sit it out if either Hukabee or Romney are the nominee. (I think Hukabee is the Howard Dean of the Republican field this round.) I'll plug my nose and vote Guliani if I have to, but I stand by my month's old belief that the finalist will be my favorite; McCain. Under no circumstances will I vote for one of the kook/whack-job Democrats.
  20. Actually, it was written by 5 Frenchmen and later translated into English. It's a pretty committing read - on the order of "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" in size and detail.
  21. I would say the economic tenets of communism are at least as repulsive as its death toll. And it's utter destruction of the human spirit and individuality is more repulsive still. Like I've taught my kids: Better dead than red. ...and if Tvashy were physically able to reproduce, he could teach his kids as he saw fit too.
  22. Worth a repost. Goddamn!!!!!!!! The Tvash has yet another career! In addition to entomologist, soldier, Cheif Technology Officer of an IT firm, battery/circuit designer, Literary Critic, ACLU attorney, speed climber, virologist, day-trading world traveler, husband, self-proclaimed great lover, and religious scholar, the Tvashman hath yet another page to share on his resume!! This is just toooooooooooooooooooo incredible. Now, tell us about your secret nuclear training...I want to hear all about it. I mean, I know there's stuff you're not allowed to say n'all, but, really, I want to hear what it was like out there man! Did they make you wear goggles and shit? How did you ever find time to do all of that financial, high tech, medical, literary stuff? You are one busy dude. And totally full of fucking shit. Seriously. Your lies and fantasies are getting out of control. By the way champ, it wasn't called the "Baker" test. It was called Crossroads. Baker - "B" - simply denotes the second test of the series. See also, Castle, Ivy series, etc. But, of course, you already knew this. You can now run back, correct the errors in your post, and act like you knew all along what the fuck you were talking about.
  23. Whatever your opinion of the bomb, you've gotta admit this is a pretty spectacular video: ...can't get it to embed for some reason. Just use the link.
  24. Silly me, I thought we one it because we didn't annihilate each other. Well that and our leader wasn't deposed because of losing it. Um. I believe he was "deposed" about one year later. By a self-described communist recently back from a trip to The Soviet Union. Curious, eh?
  25. We quietly gave up those missiles in Turkey after the Soviets withdrew theirs from Cuba. We also issued a public promise to never invade Cuba. Kennedy/we did not win the famous Cuban Missile Crisis.
