    Scratched Skis??

Troll? What'chu talkin bout? Looks to me like the only posters on this thread that have been registered longer than me are specialed and D_Parker. specialed, boy you must have missed the shortbus once again . Lately, I've seen more dreadlocked baggy pant wearing skiers than snowboarders lately. I'll give'em a break since they're just following trends from years past. They can't help it.

    Scratched Skis??

and I've seen you Wanna Be Alberto Tomba in tights searching for a lost ski on a powder day.
  6. I'm contemplating a week or trip to the B.C. interior in either Jan or Feb. I've got word of mouth advice to hit up Red Mtn and have seen brochures for the resort in Nelson as well as Kicking Horse in Golden. Kicking Horse looks to have amazing lift accessed steeps but is a long, long drive. Can anyone give me recommendations on b.c. interior resorts? Looking for, in any order: steep lines, powder, small liftlines, good vibe, and cheap. thanks for the help

    Scratched Skis??

Doesn't it SUCK when you're EPIC POWDER DAY gets RUINED when some P.O.S. snowboarder scratches your skis??!! skis are gonna get scratched up just like my snowboard is gonna get scratched up. big frickin deal. if you're gonna get bent all outta shape over it... go figure. i am a monkey.

    Scratched Skis??

I'll be honest with everyone. If you are a skier in front of me in a liftline you'd best check your skis afterwards. I scrape my snowboard edge along the backs of skis in front of me in the liftline. I do it cause I enjoy doing it, especially to those expensive looking orange salomons(?).
  10. Mos Waldron Island is a little off the map isn't it? Up there in the San Juans is it, eh?
  11. Colt, Short answer: No. No reason to lift weights if you are climbing often enough. Long answer: The one climber I personally know that climbs in the range you mentioned never lifts weights. He'll go for the occasional mtn bike ride if he feels like he needs a little more endurance....or run laps on mid-range 5.12s. From my own personal experience the only limitation you should have of reaching your goals is time. It takes time and lots of it to climb in that high a range of ratings. You've gotta be able to get out and climb outside as often as you can and then some. No, I don't mean every single day. The other thing you've gotta do is climb everything you can that is right at your highest level that you can. Everything. The more you do that the better endurance you'll have and the better prepared you will be for the easier parts of the harder climbs...leaving you better prepared for the harder parts of those climbs as well.
  12. BP - If you are ever out on the mountain and hear "Baby Tree Killers" yelled out take a look around. Blue jacket, orange oakleys.
  13. You want free beers after skiing/riding?? Buy gas, claim vouchers, hang around the ticket window for less than 5 minutes, sell vouchers, go ski/ride, then enjoy free cold beer. Couldn't be anything better.
  14. you working for the skiarea bp?
  15. Car prowlers/thieves may carry: Slim Jim, Screw Driver, Rock, Ice Pick, Coat Hanger, etc. Deterrants: Nothing od value in plain sight... Piece of shit car... If CD player, take faceplate with you (even this is not enough of a deterrant for some thieves)... What about putting a fake or old parking ticket on your car to make it look like there is a perceived presence of police? Thieves are paranoid.

  17. Malena's Taco Shop..off Dravus(?) on north crown of Queene Anne. Guadalajaran(still same name?)...right side of Lake City Way just past first stop light after taking the Lake City way exit from N-bound I-5. Used to be a little grill in the back of the shop (mercado)...now a full on restaurant. Fresh tamales fri-sun.
  18. "A5"? Isn't that an Audi car??? What's that got to do with North Face?
  19. Early in my climbing experience I was fortunate enough to climb with some very experienced and good climbers. After moving away from that group I've been hard pressed to learn on my own. Unfortunately, the climbers I've climbed with lately aren't at my level or don't have the experience of climbing with others that share the same attitude as my early climbing partners. I'm trying to pass on what I learned though.
  20. is that really beacon rock? I've never seen pictures or heard about. Cool, if so.

    Best PNW town

I grew up in Anacortes and wouldn't trade the time I spent there for anything in the world. Virtually anything you can imagine doing can be done in A-town (with the exception of ice climbing I'm quite certain). Its got a great vibe to it as well. I'd also add Coeur D'Alene, ID to the list. It doesn't have the outdoorsy vibe to it (too many hicks and tourons) but it is in a great location with way too many choices of things to do. Ahh, and yes the Candian Rockies.....they Rock to say the least....and oh how I wish I didn't have a girlfriend everytime I hear the sweet sound of a beautiful french canadian mountain girl.
  24. There's just something I like about hiking out from climbing at dusk or in the dark feeling like you milked every bit out of the day. I'd love to head up to Index some evening. I've been climbing up there once before and did GNS. I'm a beginning trad leader but can handle following up to 9 maybe 10, just depends on the route. I'm just looking to get to know Index from the ground up.
  25. Does the traffic die down after a certain time, i.e. 6pm? If you head thru 522 at 6pm that would make for about a 7pm Index arrival wouldn't it? With headlamps, on rock climbing time could be extended thru about 9pm even though there isn't any sun right?
