  1. skied all day today at baker under nuking skies!!!! fresh filling in every run and everyone left at 1:00....made for the deepest turns late in the day. the area will open more lifts tomorrow, and everything on the weekend....it's filling in nicely up there!!!!!!
  2. Lambone, it's a term i came up with yesterday! The "slide" naturally point released about a foot and a half deep and maybe 30 yds. wide, where it ran all but 20ft., slumped into itself and stopped, creating ribs in the snow and a nice crack above the slide mass and below the fracture line....looking more like a glide crack as a result!
  3. Took the opportunity to access Skyline Divide on Saturday. Roads open to the trailhead. Excellent base on all aspects covered with a well bonded layer of pow. Took three runs of high speed GS tele turns. Had a perfect day under the sun....Base was well consolidated and re-frozen, with bonded pow on top. There was an interesting creep-slump fracture on a loaded portion of the first bowl, which occured during the rains. Light to Moderate winds blew up the bowls forming sastrugi along the rims....peace. T.
  4. yes indeed....looks like washington pass won't be open this week-end or beyond...DOT will evaluate re-opening on the 19th of Nov....

  7. telemark-pyrenees.com is offering alot of nice gear too......especially in skis. although they are starting to sell out....
  8. c'mon! put down the Krak-ass and read something good. "Along the western slopes of the Oregon Coastal Range...LOOK OUT!!...Metalic at first, seen from the highway down through the trees....sometimes i live in the country, sometimes i live in the town; sometimes i get a great notion to jump into the river...an' drown....LOOK OUT!
  9. tele defenders: tell me something i don't already know!!! after all, i tele also. good times! i have to say, wool knickers sound cute! what about the wet days? are they around your ankles?
  10. kyle, whatever you choose for yourself, try buying from telemark-pyrenees.com. they are gaining popularity from U.S. buyers and, in turn, have brought down prices from major distributors here at home. (mainly the overpriced black diamond co.) scarpa boots, tele and randonee, are lower priced this year from b.d. but, even cheaper still at tele-pyrenees. example...denali and T1 are both just over 200.00!!!
  11. go smoke a rock, rock head! hehehehehehehehhehehehhehehehehehehhehehehhehehehhehehehehhehehehehehhehehehhehehehhehehehhehehehhehehehhehehehhehehehhehe.
  12. "free the heels and the mind will follow", "tele is the best". please!!!!! come on dudes!! i own multiple set-ups of alpine, randonee, and tele skis, with which i cannot find one dicipline of skiing i like best. please enlighten me to your simple resolution and maybe my mind will be freed! but from what i have yet to find out.
  13. six inches new at baker! going skiing on (finally) smoothed out glacial snow this week. bye. T.
  14. the scarpa randonee boots have a super grippy vibram sole with rocker that can be replaced, but will probabally last the boots plastic life anyway. carrying extra binding parts is prudent, but phil knows this.
  15. phil, from your web-site i gather that you ski alot also. are you trading ski time in winter for technical climbing? or are you climbing to ski? if skiing, why not check out a skiing boot, that which gives power to the skis instead of mushing out in your carve. scarpa "titan" is the most walkable and cheapest scarpa randonee boot, while giving support for power. a new this year "denali 2" is the stiffest. in between is the popular orange one. all are found on telemark-pyrenees web-site with a nice price in U.S. funds. they also have the dynafit (i think)if you are going with them. check it out if you haven't seen this site yet. thanks go out to you for your website. i enjoy it!.
  16. "I long for the ice/snow and cold of New England"-dane well, dane, looks like it's time to go back to the east coast. please bring any friends back with you. hope you get some snow and ice this winter. oh, and tell everyone how the snow quality sucks in washington, that was a good statement you made. thanks.

  18. laid down some tele turns in euro-bowl!
  19. hey guys! i have a couple of lightweight titanium screws to sell if anyone's interested..?? just need to get them out of my tibia first!!
  20. how do you "do" a cave dwayne? also, why would a person refer to themselves in the third person? "dwayne didn't know". are these two questions related?
  21. bronco, julbo sherpas have lenses(acrylic i think) that have the least protective quality of any of julbo's glacier glasses. that's probabally why you paid $10.00! i bought a pair of those for work, and have another pair with more protection for snow and high altitude. julbo's best lens for high mountain and exceptional brightness is a mineral lens with anti-glare. all cost more than 10 bones, mine were 70. but your eyes are worth it! spend the cash, take care of the shades (mine lasted 4 years before i crushed them) and your eyes will thank you in the long run. T.
  22. thanks alot tim. isn't there a web cam from the rocks pointed at the sisters? can't find it. guess we will have to ski hood northward this year. T.
  23. wanting to ski one or more of the sisters in early june. how's the snow down there? bachelor closed with 6" at 6000' on may 28th. this i know. but how's the sisters' looking? is there a web cam of the area? is the cascade lakes highway open? would there be ridge hopping to connect snow? any information will be helpful. T.
