  1. my girlfriend and i climbed sahale on sunday. skied from the summit rocks (8600') all the way down to 3400' at the road. snow was great. a little mushy on the arm itself, but firm from the glacier to the arm and from just above the pass downward. round trip took 6.5 hours. there's nothing like carving big turns in may on peaks like sahale! praises to sahale! T.
  2. fishstick, b'ham is a nice place. what approach would lead to a direct climb up the north face on frozen snow? (bringing skis)
  3. on access: the last road report from gifford-pinchot was the south side road was open to big tree. this is from mid april. big tree is quite a ways down the road from any skiing. i'd guess and say a six mile approach on road to cold springs camp. (timberline) maybe more.
  4. info on south climb (adams) road conditions. gifford pinchot web site says open to big tree early april!! thats low. has it gone up any?
  5. add to that another 2' plus above 4,000' this storm cycle! yee-haaaaa!!!!! shoe it up baby!!
  6. any info. on how much snow is at mt. mcglaughlin (sp?) trailhead? how's the east bowl look for skiing? how long will it last this year? snowed out in late may last year.
  7. jon, road to h pass should be driveable to or within .5 mile of the campground! i drove all the way to the campground and skied up ruth cr. earlier this year. (jan.) although that isn't relevant, i'm up in the area all the time. last week the twin lakes road was driveable to 3100'. the same elevation of hannegan pass campground. the hill-sides were snow-free above that! this weekends snow didn't really accumulate below 3300' so this road report should last. the trail was on and off again snow for .5 mile, then snow (in Jan.) I figure there is snow all the way up now.
