Downtown, U-district...not Ballard/Phinney

A couple vague points about insurance, no specifics- If you are a business, Allison, you need to find a biz related trade or proffessional organization to join that provides access to health care- you can buy a variety of health care plans this way. Washington's Basic Plan SUCKS!- It's not insurance, it's a leveraged effort to make insurers in this state offer health care- existing ins co's offer low incomers access to their plans, but like Mattp said, they've got a lot of hoops to keep people jumping thru in efforts to stop covering them- also, lots of the companies don't offer in LOTS of counties because they're already "at capacity" It was a politically charged effort at neutralizing access to health care in WA state for uninsured by the insurance companies and a consession when ALL the ins companies said they were going to stop offering ind. policies- now, they can still refuse many access to health care by offering this insurance "coverage" in WA Basic Health- but if you make more than poverty wages, you're not eligible anyway!

...did a training run up Mount Si in My Koflachs, carrying a rack and prussiks, trying to stay on route with the GPS-hairy routefinding-and gave my Gore XCR bibs a ripping on the crux of the Haystack Viscious! My ti 4-section probe poles kept slipping, though, so, even though brought my peeps, we didn't have to activate it. what did you guys do today? [ 10-27-2002, 09:39 PM: Message edited by: Beck ]

for people interested in finding out more about climbers' access issues at Vantage should take a look at FrenchmansCouleeClimbersCoalition, you can subscribe for email roundrobin type updates on the current climbing access issues there... BTW, Allison, the things I stated about guns are sad but true facts, one any NRA member will shed a tear over, if it's within their emotional capacity.

yes, firearms innude the bearer with leathal force, easily unleashed, Allison. they make it very easy for a person in a domestic argument to act out their aggressions in a immediate, detached, often fatal way- the most common type of firearm death in America- sad

get real, all- THERE'S NO CLIMBING IN FLORDIA- the damn high point in the state is a 300' hill up by Elgin AFB- try honing your surfing/ surf kayaking/caving/distance swimming/scuba skills and forget about the rock, you'll stop jonesing sooner if you do

Yoopers LOVE the Nuge, he's one of the UP's Golden Boys wshenever he's around, kinda meshes with the lifestyle UP dere.

I was hoping to hear tales of going out to scare the bears at the local dumps and getting chased, or doing long runouts at your local crag on goldline girthhitched around your torso, but thats' the spirit!

good point about the tight tendons being a possible cause of knee pain- it occurs when too tight tendon/ligaments scrape and inflame over rugosities around the knee bones.

These cartilidge rebuilders have positive and noticable effects in most people who haven't lost all the elastic cartilidge material. You need to do a consistent regimen over months for it to actually rebuild, unfortunately they are expensive and not covered by anybody's health care. Also, taking Glucosimine AND Chronoditin in combination will have better effects than just one alone, don't know the ratios.

...my bad in not describing appropiately!

All these thing being done before the age of drinking or smoking ciggs, there's when some really stupid stuff started. By the time we were highschoolers, though, we had found out about things like wetsuits, hypothermia, proper (maybe, just, not as messed up) climbing techniques, bike helments, etc, but the preadolescent/early adolescent adventures just seemed to come to the surface of my subconsious, just Remembering all these mishaps really made me smile and I just had to share- I thought this might spur fond memories of childhood epics for the rest of the posters out here, maybe not.

Thoughts on another thread brought back memories of childhood mishaps and perils faced undaunted by the innocence of youth. Who else out here crossed paths with danger fraught with fear by blindly stumbling into a dangerous arena? Thinking about these risky idylls of youth is still refreshing my mind of long past adventures with brothers and friends, running around a rural landscape with plenty of time on our hands, and not much parental supervision. Some youthful dangers I've been in- Multiple falls thru ice, some with skates and skis More dangerous ice travel, both with and without boat drags falling asleep in snowbanks wandering home in obvious hypothermia going whitewater canoeing with "found " canoes drifting about in "found" boats with 2x4' for paddles climbing granite with clothesline and body belays rapping dulfsitz on same watching friend deck on same getting lost in woods more than a couple times lots of solo xc skiing in strenous bc terrain, breaking skis, running into trees luger plenty of body surfing on biggest lake around long distance swimming in same generally falling out of trees, off small cliffs, and barreling into terrain features at high rates of speed on various impedementia and I was wondering if anyone else has fond memories of those mishaps of youth? You'd see these strange flying peaky backed kinda pyramid shaped delta wing jet planes prowling around the high deserts Basin and Range country of central Nevada back when I lived in those boonies back in 86-87. We figured they were flying out of Fallon Naval Air Station (I'm sure you rotor heads know how a NAS got to be stationed in East off the Sierra Nevada crest in WWII, anybody?) But that's unrelated to seeing these WACKY planes tooling low over the pinon at twilight- you'd see them if you were out there enough.

engine cowling's way funky, ya. Gettin high on huffers-specifically an adolescent perversion, so many hobbies of youth bearing hazards- painting lead figurines (remember licking the brush?) shop, rocketry, extremely unsafe boating/climbing practices, not to mention mumblety peg! Oh the days of youth!

all the more reason to start taking a low dose aspirin in with your vitamins, and substitute your post workout ibuprofins with the some regular strength aspirin, the may most climbers drink we shouldn't be taking ibuprofin anyway!

...Since I've been waiting in line for one of those, it looks like some variation of stealth fighter that've been flying around Fallon NAS for the last 15-20 years! Can't say I'll win the prize, though!!!

We up north have heard of these strange, savage customs south of the great Columbia where beverages are served by females is various stages of undress!!! Such curious habits these savages possess!

...not an expert here, but the screamer takes a potential heinous yank on a piece into a series of successive, small, 350 (or whatever they're rated at) pound tugs on the anchor, as each stich line is ripped thru . From FALLING,Force factor placement failure, to, FALLING,rip,YANK,rip, YANK,rip, slightly less yank, until you stop ripping, or until the piece either fails, or it holds, rips all the stitches (does Yates still make two "sizes" of screamer?) and the screamer is now a near full-strength runner.

Lambone's comments about mm ropes/lower impact forces generally holds true, doesn't it? Thinner ropes less impact force, twins an even lower impact if clipped into one piece? This is just one small contributing factor to this whole topic, still it that might mean Ehmmic's rope choice is an OK one for her?

check out the pass cams this morning if you're getting sick of this Seattle fog-sweet!
