Squamish is the shit. Way better access to climbing than in Leavenworth... It just has to be dry. Pick a crag in the guidebook and just go. A gaper like me got 10 pitches before noon one time. Then we made it to the coffeehouse and gaped more climbs in the afternoon.

A couple of springs ago on the way in to the hut there was a fatty frozen fall up and left as we broke out of timber. I bet it forms every year from snow melt and has probably been done before.. Any sign of that yet?

Fuck! A bold dude he was. Rest in peace. His known accomplishments were truly inspiring to many and well respected by everyone I know. I have only heard great comments about the man, his attitude and his life. His spirit, fortitude, determination and ability to take part to excel the skiing sport in our state in remote areas or unskied lines were fantastic. His short departure is saddening and who knows what else he may have done in the future years if they were available to him.

black diamond leash systems like that suck. If it worked and if it was good there would not be so many tricks to get them to each person's standard or liking. The android leashes are garbage. The clink around and annoy me. Simple leashes rule. Grivel and Charlet have the best tools on the market. Aside from the all around DMM fly that is. Thanks.

The approach to NW couloir info- There is a large crevasse just after passing north of Dean's Spire the on the McAllister glacier... It might go with trickery- or maybe the other option would be to set a rappel from the NR of Eldorado. Probably 2 raps - no anchors in place now. Go get it tough guys.

I think he was afraid Agent Orange/CPB would kick his ass if he showed his face. Hardly. I was working well into the evening.

I went and did some cool rock climbs today. It was fun. My less experienced in rock climbing partner was sending cool shit no problem. Cheers and beers to him Maybe when he learns how to place pro he can drag my grand girth bellied butt up some pitches I am scared of. What a great day in the lowland hills. There is lots of ice out. Including a number of runnels on the low left side of Lake Serene - from across the valley there are about 5 on the left or eastern side. Still waiting for the homey report on Eldorado. I think it's in

Since nobody argued my REMFs comment I will post some more info related to my statement about them not being always in need of the best body armor. This comment I made is an opinion and is subject to scrutiny, but it is also debatable and marked with controversy. Take a cook for instance that is supplying food to generals in Quatr for instance... The cooks might be required to wear just regular body armor around base. Although they are never or rarely subjected to any enemy fire they may be required to wear standard kevlar body armor in certain situations. These sort of people are not often travelling farther than a fortified base compound more than once every week and not in the "war zone" sometimes. After experiences working with people like this I can attest to first hand experiences that some of these folks detest the idea of wearing any body armor and would call it a major personal inconvenience to walk to the shitter and having to wear body armor. A ritual in some units.... This is way below a General's level...They might even complain about it for weeks after being corrected or ordered to wear it and even brought to the attention of their superiors for not having it... That said REMFS is a hard to define definition sometimes... But to those that complain that all troops should have the necessary gear or protection available might not understand all the situations that are at hand and that includes expecting tank drivers, loaders or gunners for one example to be wearing rifle protected body army while performing crew duties. Sure they may have the armor available but it's not always worn and there are inherent loopholes in their jobs that do not permit it. A tank gunner might have his tank commander killed in the midst of combat due to a number of things. Working inside that confined space he would likely be wearing the lightest body armor available. THen he would be expected to be the TC in a rough situation where he might forget to dawn more protection that is readily available but not conveniently.. He would then be more easily killed by rifle fire if he did not dig out his proper protective equipment... In a nutshell - most if not all, military commanders strictly enforce the rule of wearing the maximum body army in all situations reasonable. One could be counseled, demoted, or confronted for not meeting the uniform requirements set by each commander. THis includes leaders and everyone that reports to them. Done for now.

Does anyone own one of these? I wonder the yen to dollar ratio... https://www2.montbell.com/english/asp/products/Spg_shosai.asp?cat=2101&hinban=1128369

Good prices

Thanks David I think I own one of those. If not something of the same price that I picked up. Mine is a little thin and not something I would prefer in winter snow. But we may be talking about something different too But what I have rocks for the price and is really wafer thin and only something I prefer to use in summer when I abuse my gear less. Like I said may be similar or different jacket.

I got a plastic or rubber jacket. It does not breathe like gore tex does not either. I got it for free. I am pleased except that it doesnt have under arm zippers and the hood is small. Where are the good jackets that are rubber or plastic that have these features? Exactly part of the intent of my post. Mine was free too :-) I will look at all the links next week that have been presented. At least if it less than 120$ I dont feel bad about tearing it up. I have a 3 ply gore tex jacked Kichatna circa 1996 or something that is ok. I just dont believe gore-tex is for me. Once I get rid of that then the only pieces of shit-tex I will own will be gaiters that are so suck and gloves. My gloves were free too though

These times and reports are nothing new. There are multiple clauses in a military contract and laws that have been in place for decades that can extend tours of duty etc. Of course they will complain. I would too. But there are 2 sides to the story. The complainer is doing what most would do. But he leaves out all the facts about his contract and the laws I mentioned.... He likely knows of all this. If not he doesnt want to know for some reason. I think that this sort of comtempt would be felt under any administration. I am not favoring any one in my remarks I am only enlightening people that are quick to jump to the gun and whine about things they dont know much about.

you are right. apparently a 1/4 hasn't been issued "a new type of ceramic body armor strong enough to stop bullets fired from assault rifles" I like how they insert assault. In fact any rifle is capable of killing through standard issue kevlar body armor. Another not is that some soldiers just plain cant use ceramic body armor in all situations. Some tanker positions and BFV positions come to mind immediately....
-
Scrambler. Read my note on the top of the page. In fact mr complainers complaints are somewhat common and valid in some sense. On another note mr complainer might want to read his contract a little closer.

The practice of flying a soldier to the east or west coast based upon the situation and then having them foot the bill to their vacation desitination choice is nothing new. Next.

NOFX played a show in the valley in 1990. I had the pleasure of jumping on stage and kicking the singer in the ass while he was giving a to the crowd.
