  1. That's my opening day T-shirt!
  2. WOW you're very confused...for example equating coverage with care received but any way jeesh many socialized systems can be decribed exactly the same. Isn't that what family savings should be for? I've run the numbers for my parents and they aren't great. But why should anyone else pay for my parent's care while they still have wealth. Obviously surviving spouses complicate matters but that can easily be a welfare issue and not a healthcare issue. By the way my father fought in only two wars and wasn't particularly happy to be in the military in the first place.
  3. I need to find that site that lets you turn photos into Obama style pictures! I'd happily wear an Z t-shirt anywhere. I will point out thta after a year Obama is still blaming Bush and never once did we hear Z bash Bavasi! I guess the O is a politician and the Z a leader.
  4. One or two polls may be in error BUT I have been posting a series of polls from both conservative and liberal groups, mainstream media, universites and established polling groups (ie Gallup) that all paint a consistent story. The constant posting of "teabagger" pictures is just a way to avoid the real situation. It's easier to blame Obama's difficuties on racism and stupid people than the face the fact that many do not like the Dem/Obama policies and the fact that Obama and the Dems have not been very skilled in implementing their plans.
  5. You guys are missing the point....Let's assume that the "teabaggers" are racist looneys. They make up a small percentage of the polity. It is easy to find wackos anywhere. So pointing out a looney has very little meaning. What should give you pause for thought is the poll I referenced earlier in this thread: Out of the millions of Americans, is it shameful that some of them hold crazy ideas? Shouldn't it be far more concerning (shameful)that a large pecentage of our population either shares their crazy viewpoint or are too stupid to see it for what it is. By the way my posts have had very little to do with the "teabaggers" unless you consider "independents" and "teabaggers" to be the same.
  6. It’s really quite sad how you delight in such public mockery. I offer a set of data and you guys respond with insult and silly photographs. I may have to start posting in the Café Sensitivo. Thanks for the baseball posts Porter they lifted my spirits.
  7. It is also worth noting that the other "evil" entity BIG pharma also does not constitute a huge share of healthcare expense. I think that all pharma cost are something like 10% of healthcare expenditures. (I am included profits and the drugs themselves) even if we were able to get both pharm expense and insurance profits paid for by God the basic healthcare problem will remain essentially unchanged.
  8. Crux I believe that this statement is incorrect.
  9. Hey Off my Bank of America acquisitions have paid off nicely!
  10. AH just another example of biased (and in this case government aided) media supporting Government Motors...

  12. Its really quite sad how you delight in such news. I doubt anyone misses the trainwreck that was the Bavasi Administration - in who's failures I don't think many delighted.
  13. You are truly a teacher Ivan.....
  14. There's something happening here...... Linky

  16. I thought this thread was going to be about 1/4" versus 12mm or carbon versus stainless. Turns out the only thing to be learned from reading it is that all the crack climbs have already had FAs. I had no idea.

    Who Dat

AMEN Brother! "Z" is the man with a plan.....I need to find a woman who wants a baby because I need a son or daughter even named "Z"

Ya but I imagine the hard hitting Mariners only being up by one or two runs in the 7th despite having Lee or Felix starting. With our current bullpen we'd be down by two at the end of the game too many times. Esp late in the season when the pen is pretty beat up.

Why its Erik Bedard the M's new reliever!
  20. Two things: One the loose money supply was not sufficient to create the housing debacle and two its magnitude alone was not enough to "sink the ship". Certainly an adherent of the Austrian school like you would be suspicious of any mere statistic. Don’t different malinvestments impact the economy differently. For example wouldn’t Mises/Hayek believe that malinvesments in short term projects have a different impact on the economy vis a vis long term malinvestment? The type of “malinverstment’ not just the level is critical to its impact. As far as Lucas his first name is Robert and he is (was?) at Chicago. Look up “rational expectations.”

Alright that's two! Come on Prole I know you're a fan...
  24. Interest rates below equilibrium might inspire some “malinvestment” but also some investment that will be fruitful with an expected future rise in interest rates. Many other investors will not make interest sensitive investments expecting a future rise in rates. (Read Lucas a Washingtonian!)) It is hard to see that absent implicit government guarantees and incentives and regulatory inexperience in actually closing huge financial institutions. (ie large bank holding companies) that the current crisis would have unfolded as it did.
  25. Clearly you know very little about Uncle Milton's views...
