  1. i'm not sure if you were being facetious with this question. the permit application specifically asks about your crevasse rescue experience and "Methods of self-belay and self-rescue from a crevasse." what would you do if you fell in a crevasse while you were soloing? if you haven't thought about this, you have no business soloing.
  2. they're lucky. hopefully they learned something.
  3. that is kind of cool. if only it would zoom in a few more steps!
  4. these are REALLY SMALL. i'm pretty sure they're size US 4.5. (can double-check next time i'm at home.) i've used them in the gym less than a dozen times. back when i climbed a lot i could squeeze into them for a climb or two. now there's no way in hell! even the thought of it makes my feet hurt ...
  5. i don't have my skis here so can't look to see exactly what the clip is you're talking about, but i've never had any trouble with my naxo bindings. (aside from the idiot who installed them not knowing how to adjust them properly.) if you're in seattle you might pop over to proski or give them a call - greg or adam or whoever might be able to help you ...
  6. yum!!!
  7. i'm sure the cover was just the "good stuff" they were hoping would sell more issues. i found the article lame. and the cover had nothing to do with climbing. women have been climbing for years ... and taking road trips to climb ... without needing three other women with them to do it.
  8. nah, dude; it's all about the timing for most people. well, that and driving to idaho to carpool.
  9. mmm ... that rock looks yummy!
  10. last i heard they were going to start prepping alpental on friday, and were hoping to open the backside by saturday afternoon. consider that a rumor ...
  11. those sound like great skis. when i was looking for fatties, i was wishing they made those shorter. i really don't think they'd be considered noodles. at least not compared the pocket rocket ...

    Ouch

that was sweet!!! i guess the dude was okay, but it sure looked unpleasant.
  13. omfg; i thought maybe you were shittin' us! my car doesn't even have one. btw, i'm pretty disappointed that it doesn't give more technical specifications - like, does one of the "64 unique seating and cargo configurations" allow for comfortable sleeping during those multi-day (or multi-month) road trips while still leaving room to keep all of your gear locked safely inside the vehicle?
  14. can you only get those online or can you find them locally? (i didn't see a list of shops on their website ... although perhaps i didn't look long enough. )
  15. gotcha . thanks for setting me straight on that - i had no idea mike got a new chopper! btw, i'm pretty jealous you guys are going. that place is spectacular!!!
  16. i wonder who she'll be traipsing off with next?
  17. if markws isn't in alaska, i'm sure he'd be game! not sure what my schedule is going to be like yet, but if i'm still unemployed i might be talked into doing something.
  18. i'm pretty impressed by dan brewster's letter. he's not my favorite guy in the world, but props to snoqualmie for what they're doing for their season passholders.
  19. pete_a, are you sure your weight estimates are okay? we had four people going in from whitesaddle last may for a week of skiing and had to make two flights. granted, 3 of them were fairly big guys ... but they weren't huge by any means.
  20. canon has a great reputation for picture quality and camera design. i pretty much only looked at canons. (made my life a little easier with all the choices out there!)
  21. thanks, trundle. i think we might be using them!
  22. i've had no problems snapping pics via my s410 with ski gloves ...
