  1. I checked out the needle 65 (i think) at a (gasp) REI. I liked it but I am a friggin camel and there were no side pockets for bottles or a hydration sleeve. Nice an light weight though and seems pretty tough.
  2. Anyone have one or know where I can get one?
  3. Man that is f'd up! We should give the seals hand guns or shivs. Let's see who makes a coat out of who. And Oly, don't worry the seals are just passed out after a long night of cherry jello shots with aftershock chasers. They will be ok. Those nice men with the clubs are there to help.

    Bee careful

get it bee careful.....whatever Heard this last night on AM radio, interesting. Apparently over 50% of californias honeybee population has died in the last 6 months. This is due to some asian mite that is killing them. The mite is resistant to pesticides. The effects of this would be severly diminished seeded fruit crops (berries, watermellons, citrus, etc) to the point where the would just not be available anymore. But one of the biggest worries is for the almond growers of california, who produce 80% of the WORLDS almond crop. I guess this is not isolated to California either (worldwide problem). It has gotten so bad that California is asking that anyone who has hives heed that call. Anyone hear about this? Wacky I tell ya!!
  6. I have an MEC hardshell (zenith I think, $282 US) that I am very happy with. It is similar to ArcTeryx. Very high quality and tough as nails as well. It weighs about 26oz though. I also have a Mtn Hardwear Manticore hybrid that I am pleased with so far. I have not taken it up to the hills yet though. It is light-ish (22oz), comfortable, and allows for lots of movement. ArcTeryx Theta SL at 15oz and the LT is 21oz would be pretty sweet, but you will pay for it ( you do get what you pay for with arcTeryx). The theta AR is 23oz BTW. If you are interested in the Manticore check out backcountry.com and campmor. good luck Kyle

    Subaru sells out

No shit, it only seats seven!! "could you hand me my drink....No the other one.....to the left.....no the other left. Thanks"
  9. Fits really snug with the primus canisters. Agreed, way too loose with any others.
  10. New diamir titanal 2 size XL with wide brake mounted to 190cm atomic tourguides. Skis have topsheet scratches/nicks but bases are in great condition. Skis are approx 6 years old, and have many years left. I may have some skins for them if they will not work with my new setup. Make me a reasonable offer.

    Subaru sells out

Finally! Subaru has given into the demand for useless luxury SUV's. Complete with standard heated seats, navigation systems, 10 cup holders, seating for 7, heated side mirrors, and 250 horsepower, and a color pallet including opals, and pearls. Granola yuppies rejoice! http://www.subaru.com/sub/b9/init.html made your url clickable - gotta keep up standards even in SPRAY. thanks SB, sorry.
  12. I bought my chi and chakra at REI. I exchanged them for a 4 season tent. in retrospect not such a good idea.
  13. Well unfortunately I do not have a ton of advice for you. I have a pair of Karhu Metas (120cm) that I am looking to do the same thing with. I will probably mount them back just a bit. My biggest problem right now is that I have no bindings. If you find another pair of old silvrettas lying around for cheap let me know! and let me know how you like your set up once you have tried it out. Kyle
  14. My '91 Land Cruiser runs off of bunnies and spotted owls. gets 2 gallons per mile. but thats on premium (baby seals and spotted owls) I LOVE it!
  15. Yeah that is a long thread...and I have no attention span. Sorry if I repeat or just sound stupid but..... I am kinda getting the idea that we have enough oil just no where to refine it. It makes me wonder whats up when the prez can convince over half the country war is good, but he can not convince our oil companies to build more refineries. But why would he do that.....that would just mean oil companies would have to spend millions/billions on refineries which would only serve to lower damand and thereby decrease price. GW would not want to piss off his big money buddies in the oil industry. So seems to me this will not solve anything.
  16. "I´m in Argentina right now" Sweeeeet! How is it?
  17. Screw you man!! REI and I will work it out. We'll be just fine!! REI loves me. It was built for me and me alone. OH GOD YOU'RE RIGHT, ITS OVER!!! REI is a fickle fickle tease. "come to me I have cheap stuff", "NO! GO AWAY, we don't carry that anymore" Why...... ........Why.......... ......Why? (psssssttt......i still love you baby, i'll be back) well put chuck
  18. Listen you little tool. Its 16,000´signatures in 3 months from active members (and no, they won´t give you a list) to be on the board ballot. And only 2 members can be from this process, the rest are board nominations. The rest of your points show you be the dumbass everyone treats REI employees as. Management does listen to forums like this, and responds quite quickly to angry letters. Trying to head off reform? Uh Oh! someone is cranky again. Time for a vacation back to SA?
  19. Thanks for the insight Baltoro.I did not know that people could be nominated for the board. Maybe something those on this board should consider? Dru seem sto have lots of time on his hands. Although I do not think REI has been marketing directly to the urban campers, I do think that they could/should do something to reach those that feel ostracized. I think that they can progress the company while still holding onto their roots. I do agree that REI makes people want to be active in the outdoors. I remember back in Spokane, I was so friggin excited to go to our measly little REI any chance I got. I had the store floor memorized. If it weren’t for REI I would not have my gear. The vast majority (75%) of that gear was purchased on sale. I'm sorry but I can't complain about paying $60 for new skis that retailed for $850. Or $25 for a tent that retailed for $400, $60 jacket that retailed for $285, $50 pack that retailed for $150. $10 for a $70 stove, $100 for a $900 car rack system. I could go on all day. I don’t think that means I sold out the little guy I just think it means I have more gear and more money left over than you. Thanks REI! And because of gear shops like REI I now get "frigging excited" to go to places like Feathered Friends, Second Ascent and Gi Joes......Ok kidding about Joes. And hey Dennis Madsen can keep his 1M/year. I've met and talked with him, he is a cool guy. I guess my fear is that REI is headed down the E.B. road. Gear and clothes.......Some gear more clothes......no gear all clothes......Come out with an REI edition Subaru.......Close all stores and dissappear. That would be sad. Peace

    chatter

Cool. I just had a wicked sweet conversation with myself!!
  21. I was squeezed out of my mom in 1977. Don't think that counts though. My history is not so impressive. Started climbing in 94, first peak in 2002.
  22. Anyone have the Karhu Meta? (120 fatty with built in patch of mohair).
