  1. And here is a second-hand quote regarding retrobolting at Darrnington, from a climber of committing slab routes: "I have to add this point. Duane Constantino told via email and a telephone call several years ago that he did condone replacing his original 1/4 inch bolts on all old climbs BUT he felt the commitment should be there and not to ADD other bolts to the climbs HE personally drilled and led. I discussed this with DW, but he felt a safety factor must be added so the "new" climbers would come to Darrington and climb. This safety factor idea was spawned by MP and DW so the forest service would see user numbers and keep the road open. Any one can say I am not being truthful but a call or email to Duane will tell it like it is. He is all for keeping the lines original and bolt replacement only at or near the original placement. Duane and I climbed together for a long time and I know the commitment his is willing to submit himself to and I also know the commitment others are not willing to take. Sisu"
  2. New condition and functioning flawlessly. Quiet and sophisticated. Many modes including fully manual. Great camera for those who still shoot film. Lens has metal mount. Yours for $200 firm.
  3. Even before these perverted T-shirts, I've always felt that Sesame Street wasn't the best influence for the kids. Not enough sesame, too much street.
  4. Any BIG LOU fans?
  5. One of the activists there (back in the early 1990's) told me about a fall off of Battle of the Bulge in which a bolt pulled....not out of the rock, rather the cobble that held the bolt pulled out of the wall!
  6. Which one of you assholes is going to stick a bolt in that thing?
  7. "Can Seattle stop Steve Smith? Can anybody stop Steve Smith?" How many times did we hear that this week? Nice to see him ending the game by fumbling away Carolina's vanishing chance at a come-back.
  8. No, Pal. I called it. POPE the Greek
  9. After 11 years of coaching, I took a year off to have more time for my family, and I've actually found time to watch the Seahawks this year. Gosh this has been fun. Time for my liberal brothers to quit brooding over social inequities and US foreign policy and such. Get ON the couch and get fired up! Oh, and did I mention that POPE IS A PROPHET ?

    climbing girls

You will find equal adventure and she will experience greater satisfaction if you just go shopping at Bellevue Square instead.
  11. We can cover one guy. Bump him hard within the first five yards to disrupt the timing. Double cover him beyond ten yards. No problem.
  12. They're banged up. A third string back who can't break a big one means Seattle can double up on Carolina's single-threat offense. Chicago mysteriously didn't adjust for this opportunity and paid. Carolina's defensive front won't be 100% in Seattle (read the reports). Watch for Seattle to control the game on the ground. I'm predicting an impressive win for your Seattle Seahawks. And I don't see the Broncos or Steelers stopping the party either.
  13. It gets pretty cold up in the hills. There are plenty of good sit-starts at the Beardsley boulder pile (NW Phoenix) and the locals will be happy to sandbag you.
  14. (1) Buy one of these: (2) With newly acquired tool, donate one day of your life to sanitation projects in the vertical plane (I have some ideas). (3) After satisfactory completion of steps (1) and (2), look me up and I'll be happy to offer instruction. (4) Ignore Dru. And ignore the "place gear while soloing" advice from Mr. Chocolate. This should probably appear as step (1).

  17. As if you're not all over that.
  18. You have 28,988 posts. Can you be happy with that, or must we endure more?
  19. That's probably too extreme for my technique (smoothest Stem-Christie in the West). But me and Dwayner have been looking at that hill for some first-descent potential on our expedition-certified beer sled:
  20. Is this your secret project? You're afraid I'll pick your cherry? Don't worry, I last tried sport climbing about 12 years ago and it didn't hold my attention. Looks like a fun top-roped problem for the young tigers.
  21. Are you sure you were in the right gully? I remember (when I was 18) a cliff near the bottom. I recall abseiling a 30+ ft bulge in August. Hard to imagine enough snow to turn that cliff into a ski run.
  22. Where is that thing?
  23. Compared to this: every route on Stuart is good. Don't go down Ulrich's.
  24. To change my phone number and rid my house of your girlfriend's lingerie.
  25. What, your goals? I recommend you start here:
