Alpine: North Face of Mt. Hood Scenery Storm over Mt. Triumph

Use this link. Most of the suggestions on this page are easy and it really does work. I spent about a half hour 2 or more years ago, and I get very little junk mail now. http://www.obviously.com/junkmail/

We found a few small bits a couple of years ago no more than 50 meters from camp on picket pass. We were very baffeled about how they got there. So yes it sounds like the Navy cleaned up the crash site.

So can anyone give me a little beta on what climbing either one of these peaks this time of year might be like. I will be down there for the next couple of weeks and these seem like reasonable objectives given the limited time frame I will have. Are the routes so strait forward that they could be done in poor weather conditions? (I dont mind a little snow)

I dont remember the specifics, but it was for some type of bench chemist job. Organic synthesis of some type. I think on organic dyes, but I dont really know.

My first job interview out of college was a place called molecular probes in Eugene. At the end of this several hour interview the HR lady informs me that the pay was 14. I said $14/ hour? She said no $14k a year. I informed her I could make more working at Burger King part time. Fuckers only did the interview so they could prove to imigration that they could not hire an american for that price. I should have realized this when I spent the first interview asking they interviewer to write it down because I could not understand what the hell he was saying.

Most of the people I worked with in the software field have science degrees. I would guess it was about 50/50 computer science/other science at microsoft.
-
Anyone I know who graduated in Chemistry left the field because they wanted to make some money. Chemistry has to be one of the only degrees where if you continue your education past a batchellors degree you are destined to make less money.

[TR] Condor Buttress- Condorphamine Addiction 10/1/2005
Alasdair replied to catbirdseat's topic in Alpine Lakes
Right on it was good to meet you. Yea that ridge on bathtub dome was good in a 5.7 runout in the rain sort of way. In addition we decided to get on the route I cleaned last year in the gully between the ridge we were on and where you were to get a better idea of the rating. In the process I got a brand new #2 camalot stuck trying to protect the roof move. So if anyone wants a free cam and is very good at getting out stuck gear go get it. Its the first cam I have ever lost and it hurt pretty bad to let that one go. It is in a crack on a 4 foot horizontal roof on an east facing wall on bathtub dome. It is pretty obvious if you are on the trail to condor buttress just below bathtub dome. -
Just a feature to look for suggestion... Large inner pockets that will easily hold either water bottles or bladders securly. Unless of course you are buying your down jacket so you can look cool belaying at the base of morning glory wall.

I got yelled at a couple of years ago for removing all of the webbing off of the two large metolius rap bolts on the middle of the face. THere is no reason for there to be any webbing on this type of anchor. They are designed for rope to thread right through them. The next anchor below that has been a hazard for years, and needed removed. As far as I am concerned the only anchor that needs any webbing on that route is the top one to get you over the edge. Alternatively you could always walk off the back side.

ok just a little more info about what I need here... Basically I am planning on goin with someone who has a major issue with crossing rivers due to a scary incident a few years ago involving being pined to a log. She will not cross the river if it is more than about knee deep. I do not want to hike all the way in there if there is no way to get across that is acceptable to her. So if anyones got any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey anyone know what the river crossing at the base of easy ridge looks like right now? Is there any log crossing, or othe way of crossing that does not involve wading throught the water?

There is a peak in New Zealand called "Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapiki-maungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu "

There is lots of great climbing in Boise, and it is within minutes of downtown. Its called the black cliffs and the approaches are about 30 seconds. They are basalt columns. There are sport and crack routes. I would bet there are several hundred routes at least. It is east of downtown on the road paralell to the freeway and to the north.

There was a thread on this about a month ago with info about how to get over the barrier. I think it is in some TR about McMillan spire in a day. I am too lazy to look it up, but you should be able to find it.

Agreed The Isreali govenment and its policies have been the main problem, and while I dont agree with terrorism, it does seem that at least some it could have been avoided by less hard line stances by the Isreali govenment. Kind of like our govenment right now.

Sad day my ass. The only thing that is fucked up about today is their insistance that they bulldose the houses. Why not leave them for the palestinians. Fuck the settlers they were there illegally anyway. Its about time they gave the land back.
-
Three raps down the route and you are fine. Anchors may or may not be ok, so take some webing and make your own if they are bad.
-
I looked down it last weekend. Dont have pictures, but if you are planning on going down the top of the ice cliff it looked pretty nasty. The gully was kind of ugly looking.
-
Dont take an axe. If you cant go down the glacier safely because it it icy (which does happen later in the year), you can continue along the ridge and descend from the notch next to Little Annapurnna. It adds a mile or so to the hike, but it is not that bad.
-
I still say they are very rare incidents. Kind of like being killed on an airliner.

Thats not the type of cougar I am talking about. That kind is relativly harmless. They tend to get close to the prey and then lose it at the very last minute. You know the term "Coug it". I am talking about a middle-aged (or above) woman, dressed to the nines, out on the prowl looking for young (20-35 year old) men. Ofter with a couple pups at home.
