Yep, more than just me. Thanks, everybody, this is really interesting for us. And you're makin' me proud by refraining from spray! Wha' th'?? I think I'm getting teary.

OK, another question: Do you think that the assortment is good in ANY of the categories (check out rei.com)?

Great feedback, guys!! Thanks, keep it coming......

In spite of my expectation of much spray and flaming, I wish to pose some questions to you. A good friend of mine, an avid mountaineer and skilled climber, currently gained a position within our beloved company (it's a great place to work, no matter what dissenters think about how we run our business) to influence the direction of our climbing department. He asked that I get some feedback on the following: What do you think REI climbing dept. (mainly in Seattle, Redmond, and online) does well? What don't we do well? How can we add authenticity to the dept.? How do we meet/miss meeting your needs? Who do you think is our core customer (in the climbing dept)? Are you a part of that group? Any other comments? Thanks for responding, go ahead and post a reply or email me. Have fun!jules [ 04-03-2002: Message edited by: jules ]

Encouraging news, thanks for the update, Kel!

Do we count Batso's passing as the 3rd incident, though? If so, then we're done, if, as erik states, these things happen in 3's.

This is great news!!! I have been trying to be patient, knowing that it might take a while for him to wake up, but I'm not very good at it. Thanks for keeping us posted, Chad. I feel very encouraged.

My sister still lives there, never left after college, and I love going up to visit. There's the Ski to Sea race every May too. Fun-o-rama from Mt Baker to Bellingham Bay.

This is great news, thank you posting the update!

Yes, thanks for helping out the dog, it does sound like the guy was concerned enough to rescue him. I just got a dog this winter, after much soul-searching. I know that it it has changed my lifestyle, and that I will have to go on stuff where I can take the dog, or not go at all, or go and leave him at home. But I hope to never do anything to endanger him, and it is SO WORTH IT to have a dog!!!!

I climbed the Emmons route on Rainier with Jim several years ago. That was a damn fun climb! Will send my hope, good thoughts and prayers for a speedy and full recovery.

Forgot BOTH of my boots for a day hike to Camp Muir, went up in my trail runners. Actually the most comfortable I've been on that hike, except for the crevasse-jumping.

Didn't make it myslf last night, Dwayner, anybody out there still around/able to tell us how it was?

miker, I had a Kelty Redwing several years ago that was a panel-loader. I found that feature to be more annoying than helpful. I switched to a TNF Exocet, which was ok, and currently use an Arc'teryx Khamsin (I can't remember if it's the 30 or 38), and LOVE IT! Very lightweight, good capacity, plenty of features like side ski pockets and shock cord attachment thingy.

I wholeheartedly agree.... Dwayner is the quintessential Alpine Buddy!

My puppy (hey, chrisw, post that shot of "evil" Dragon!), a panaroma of the Olympics, panaroma of Rainier, photos from Rainier, Adams, Neskowin Beach in Oregon, mountain biking at Ebey's Landing and Fort Casey on Whidbey Island, and various secret shots of the nefarious visitors to cc.com pub club.

Don't want to burst any bubbles but...... Moonstone - owned by Pacific TrailPacific Trail - owned by London FogPatagonia - uses cheap labor in El Salvador (and probably elsewhere)

OK, I'm giving another thumbs up to the Bibler (El Dorado OR I-tent). It is approx 4 lbs, and so I have carried it even when I don't have a tentmate. I don't know of any single-man tent that is as bomber as the Bibler two-man and weighs as little and feels like I'm sleepin' in a condo at camp (when I'm tent-mate-less). I used a Bibler El Dorado at Camp Schurman during a sleet storm a couple of years ago..... held up great, no condensation, leaks, etc. Pricey, though, and the vestibule is sold separately. [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: jules ]

So, at the risk of offending Tricky, I divide my vote. Of course, if I lived in Florida, I could vote twice. Or just turn in a ballot with semi-pregnant chads. -

I second the motion. Especially since he called me "lovely."
