    Executing POWs

new extreme fighting challenge spetznaz vs. SAS vs. JTF2 vs. ninjas vs. whoever else its the only way to settle the issue aside from a measuring tape. all these special forces love to promote myths about how tough they are but bullets, napalm, cluster bombs etc. still kill em just as dead as they do 6 yr old Iraqi kids.
  2. Very interesting. I took the test and initially got a 142. Out of curiousity, I hit my back button and changed the answers to the few questions I wasn't 100% sure about, then hit enter to see my revised score, doing so one at a time. In every case but one my score dropped (meaning the original answer was correct). I missed the grape vs. coconut in case anyone thinks I'm attempting to highlight my intelligence. Correcting this changed my score to 144, which I believe is the maximum possible score. If you look at the normal distribution of IQ scores, you'll see that the tails flatten at 144. In order to statistically capture the tails they would need to ask more than 40 questions so I call bullshit on Dru. It's not difficult to demonstrate. I'll supply the answers that score 144 and if Dru can indicate which ones are incorrect (not necessarily give the answers) leading to a score of 167 I'll change my avatar to a dunce cap for a month. Otherwise I suggest Dru do the same for attempting to inflate his score here, among other things. tomdav is the winner of Dru's secret IQ test!!! i did score 164 on the test they gave us in high school though. it was about 10 pages as i recall so probably more questions. actually, when i did the test, when i filled out the biographical stuff at the end, i put in some fake name and age that indicated i was 7 years old, and that apparently threw the system for a loop, cause little kids aren't supposed to fill out their biographical details online - so it clammed up and refused to tell me my score and i just made one up tomdav is the only one who worked out WHY it was BS instead of just talking smack the way tomcat did.

Love that series. Read them all as a kid, and just re-read the first two, _Swallows and Amazons_ and ??? All people with kids owe it to them to find these books for them. swallowdale.

maybe to keep with the german nature of the town they can change the name from gustav's to goosesteps' and go with a 3rd reich theme. show your ration card to order, and every meal comes with a complimentary Dresden Firebomb shooter (weak lager and tabasco sauce in equal measure)

scary stuff antibiotic resistance is although it isn't relevant to a flu outbreak. i found it interesting that so many new variants of the influenza virus start in asia. (Before anybody hollers about me being a racist...there's no such motivation in my statement. Just an interesting phenomena!) yes the article explains why that occurs. nothing to do with race, more to do with domestic and wild fowl, pigs, and humans living in close proximity. the slaughter of a million chickens probably stopped the bird flu from spreading. asian bird flu was extremely virulent - 6 deaths out of 18 infections. current SARS outbreak (not a flu) is much less virulent - 50 to 60 deaths out of 1400 cases according to an article i read online this morning.
  10. So now, instead of suggestive PM's from every desperate guy on the site, you are only gonnas get them from troll fanciers.

I am bogged down in "Nekropolis" by Maureen McHugh. About half way through. Will finish it when unemployed with more time to waste. Just finished rereading "The Picts and the Martyrs" by Arthur Ransome. Bathroom reading is the new Alpinist and the March/April issue of American Scientist. Two good complementary pieces on how flu pandemics originate, and growing antibiotic resistance.

yeah well i guess they figured the first guy would always lie at first. inciodentally your question is why torture doesnt work to extract info you don't know, cause the victim always ends up telling you what you want to hear... it does work really well to degrade your enemies or punish your captives though, which is why it is still used today in places like africa, middle east, asia, and north and south america...
  20. yeah, the middle one has to have nothing in my theory, because it SHOULD have an oval, but the oval would have to be half-white and half-black to accord with the pattern of the lower rows, where the centre is the opposite of the edges.

i was thinking of the American intelligence who would take 2 prisoners up in a helicopter. ask first one a question. no matter what he answered, throw him out of the helicopter from, about 700 feet up, then ask the second one the same question. i dont have a source for that. it was in some book on human rights abuses and torture i read in university 10 yrs ago.
  22. or attach as file attachment to post, but its gotta be under 100 kb then.
  23. no way, its shaded to show its empty
  24. what are the choices? I understand now why the bottom shape is a white circle (it is). Look diagonally accrossed the middle. Oval, square, circle of all the same shade. Now start at the upper right corner. Go diagonally down and to the right. The next box down would be the 1st square on the 2nd row (the white square). The next box (the box in question) should be a circle to maintain this pattern. your theory still doesnt explain the middle box in the top row though?
