social conventions are one thing arlen but what about the bogus class- and race-based Victorian era conventions that made Latin words "OK" (copulate, defecate, etc.) where good old Middle English (Shite, Fuck etc) are "vulgar".
free soloing is fun.
You will never be able to climb fast in the mountains unless you accept you will be effectively soloing for much of the time. When my best lead grade was 10a I made a point of freesoloing a few 10as. Now I lead harder than that but I probably only free solo 5.8. To each their own. I haven't felt like soloing much the last few years but would like to get back into this more.
John Gill wrote a great opinion piece once about meditation and freesoloing. I know he now practices freesoloing on generally moderate routes with avoidable harder cruxes - what he called "option soloing"- in preference to his 60's bouldering antics.
of course i'm talking shit this is a website - duh. just like you. i bet it isnt the first time in your life ewe've ever encountered a soft 12 either is it
would you rather have
a) a newbie pissed off at you, or
b) a newbie dead cause no one told em what they do is unsafe?
PersonallY i only tell a guy what he's doing is unsafe if it's a chance to make him look bad in front of his cute girlfriend

it's hard to tell, but is that the gendarme near the bottom of the SW ridge? really with the fog and lack of landmarks it could be any tower. i don't think it's the summit of S Nesakwatch though because there are no offwidths
Alpinist 5 has a big feature on FitzRoy
