    Bad Photo Contest

Time for the second round of bad photo contest!!! We will take out of focus Prana top shots, tilted climbing photos with trees at an angle, finger in front of camera, glare on helicopter window obscuring tree behind, red-eyed pube club and other atrocities I am starting with a beauty i took today! Crikey This round of the contest will be judged by a special CELEBRITY JUDGE! PM me if you want to be the celebrity judge.
  2. dont you mean the infamous fern route
  3. they arent scanned
  4. the pick try rubbing a wax candle all over it
  5. Well it will make it easier to buy new chalk before you do the Sea Level Traverse! [cue Andy Cairns photo onslaught]
  6. Pretty much except it's a grade harder. About like climbing WR N Twin Sis without the 3rd class ledge options on that route. Very similar rock. You wouldn't want to get off the Settler by downclimbing this route, for instance!
  7. It's called the Chinese Puzzle and to the best of my knowledge there are three attempts, or incomplete routes, up to A4 and 12b but nothing has topped out due to vanishing cracks and/or two tonne loose blocks. The highest point reached is only about 60m from the top. So Tex did you manage to find the NE butt this time around
  8. Dude how can I forget Lucky Lager they have those "BACK THEN, GUTS WERE MEASURED BY THE CUBIC FOOT" posters in every logging camp in BC!
  9. you could fix it by buying some boots with a gussetted tongue, like koflachs
  10. they have probably tweaked the design of the Theta AR about five times since the jacket was first produced in 1997 or 1998. that's 5 different jackets. some very old closeouts can be floating around in the supply room of internet retailers
  11. There is a lot of snow and ice left in certain places, hidden away in couloirs that never see the sun. You can still see snowpatches tracing the line of the 1976 route on the north farce of Cheam, as of today, for instance.
  12. you need 6 cold beers!
  13. what snoboy said, they went south, but came straight down the ridge crest instead of following the descent ledges east of the crest!

    Out of the Closet

    You tell em "Merv"
  15. The Plutocrat and Paymaster are nice lines up the Cadwallader too. If'n we get a nice freeze in late fall there are about 21 waterfalls that form up on the north flanks of the Cheam Range...and we only climbed one of them
  16. an otter? I'm looking for the ugliest, skintightest LYCRA I can find
  17. Koflach Vertical has kept my toes warm & dry and climbed well in winter and on alpine, and on winter alpine too. I had to get them reranded after 4 years, otherwise no problems.
  18. horne lake was solid from the get-go
  19. It all goes to the same place in the end
  20. an overhanging rap? for the benefit of other parties repeating, i will say that if you stick left on descending south and follow the obvious fault/ledge system that aside from a 10m chimney downclimb that is 4th class the rest of the downclimb can be done as 3rd class. it sounds like you may have been further to the right but i guess that late in the day you did the right thing for just givin'er instead of scouting around for the downclimb. here's a trivia shot of snoboy and fern downclimbing the chimney i speak of
  21. you'd have to talk to the designers but i recall they dislike those zips for some reason, so probably no
  22. 1? what? finish how talls are an option on any pants the teryx makes. you can get an xs-tall or an xl-tall if you need it or you used to be able to anyways. the tall pants are just 2 inches or so longer for the same waist than the regular pant.
  23. What did you rap coming off the south side - the chimney?
  24. why not just come out and say you are looking for a ropegun jeff?
  25. There are 4 short technical cruxes, all well protected. Usually the hardest part is stopping yourself from gorging blueberries below the Acrophobes.
