  13. Actually manual counts have a very low margin of error. You get a group of people, both Repubs, Democrats and independents, to sit around and together check each ballot and you get multiple redundancy on each count, reducing error by orders of magnitude. Unlike an optical scanner that is guaranteed to have a certain error rate, and no backup verification.

  17. ...any measurement has a margin of error. in this case the measurement of voter preference (the vote tally) had a difference that was less than the margin of error for the election. therefore, it is not possible to state with certainty which candidate was preferred by voters, and a measurement with greater precision (recount or runoff ballot) is needed to verify the voters' decision. FW: If you are confident your candidate won you should WELCOME a recount. The only reason you have to fear such a procedure is if you feel your candidate won only because of errors in the measurement (vote counting) process. Measure this:

  24. I am looking for details of "First ascents and Significant Climbs" for SW BC to include in the 2005 AAJ. The climbs should have been done in this calendar year to be included. So far the list I have includes the following routes - I expect based on the previous years that this represents about 50% of what's been done, and the rest I will have to track down via phone and email. But in the meantime if you climbed a new route in SW Bc in 2005 or know of someone who has please post as many details as you can here or send me a PM. The summary should include routes from Grade II to Grade IV. .V's and VI's get their own writeups. However I have included one or two here for completeness ROUTE LIST TO DATE: Judge Howay, north ridge FWA Stonerabbit SE face Arthur Seat SE Rib Alpaca - Alpika Slab Matriarch -SW Face Kookipi - Brambles Buttress Sky Nesakwatch Spires - Sublimation Robertson Peak - North glacier Solstice Start and Gnomon Direct routes - Mt Athelstan Speculative at this point (I heard a rumor) East face of Slesse - first free ascent.
  25. Get some Intuition liners.
