Tell me more! How "mid" 5th? Don't have the Beckey Guide here with me.

Here's a pretty good story recently from rec.climbing that fits pretty well on our beloved site.

Ouch!!

Anybody wanna head up there on Tuesday (perhaps leave late Mon night)? Would like to climb something reasonably challenging (DEB SEWS, East Face Lexington, WF-NW corner NEWS linkup, maybe Clean Break in a day if you're a confident person?). Might be able to leave earlier tonight if some capable person wants to try to climb Grand Wall with me. Also am open to other high-altitude (i.e. hopefully lower temperature) activities (Sloan Peak, Whitehorse, Triumph (JOSHK??????). Need to be working in Seattle 8am Wed, so prefer low epic potential. Anyway, I have the day off. Am I soloing or what? Send me a PM, soon right? Tuesday is tomorrow already.

Try the "Bambi" variation on Godzilla, and/or link it with City Park p2 (60m required?). I have usually noticed that with the Orbit/Outerspace comparison as well as the Godzilla/GM comparison, the "better" of the two is often the one I have climbed most recently. You're tearing it up Michael!

Sorry to divert this thread a bit, but this is why I believe you see such a big bunch of computer and science geek types engaging in rock climbing. The cool jocks in high school were usually the ones with the coordination, speed and reaction time necessary for most of the "ball" sports. The geeks needed to focus on other things like science, computers and sh*t, ..................until they discovered rock climbing and peak bagging.

I forgot the obvious one. If you climb Free At last (or Narrow Arrow [regular] p1 ) You can walk across the big ledge then downclimb a tree to the top of Thin Fingers . You can also probably toprope Quarry Crack from the up there.
-
I think you're confused there eric8. He didn't mean that. When he wrote "3rd pitch of gm route" I think he was probably actually meaning to recommend the 3rd pitch of GM.

Are ordinary cars allowed on Ipsut Creek Road?
chucK replied to Norman_Clyde's topic in Mount Rainier NP
Just call the ranger station Norman. I'm sure they'll give you the straight dope. -
Spineless at Private Idaho is a good un You could probably toprope Dr. Sniff If you do Free At Last you can rap down and toprope Slow Children. Do Beak Beak Beak and toprope Newest Industry more? walk to the top of the Upper Wall and progressively rap and toprope Davis Holland lovin arms backwards (or would that be arms lovin holland davis? )

Another frustrated climber's ego diminished by tales of others' achievement, very sad .
-
You just try. I think the thing is in there like the sword in the king arthur tale where he jumps over the barb wire fence in his mustang on two wheels. So far this is turning out to be a pretty productive troll.
-
shouldn't he work "reacharound" in there somewhere too? That's a sportclimbing term isn't it?
-
But I thought he didn't make it over the wire in that movie. I'm so confused .

nope, just us cc.commers are just a bunch of dumb jocks. that's about it I think, yup. could be the emptiness thing though I guess

Iconoclast/Hyperspace fits 1,2,3 Grand Wall fits 1,2, 4 Sagitarius fit #3 for long time, but I sent it ( ) a couple of weeks ago (only to the ringing flake though ). [this post is my official goodbye to the local "Sagitarius Scares Me" support group. ]

much like your avatar picture chuck. mine, on the other hand, brillantly represents the idiom of the post 2001 anti-snaffleists, much as monet's waterlilies is a definitive work of the impressionist era. You know Iain, when I first chose this avatar picture it was just sort of an impulse move, or perhaps a good-natured goof on cc.com's plunge into commercial sponsorship. However, since then, it has occurred to me that I had serendipitously chosen an image communicating a bold, cynical commentary of the cc.com community. Gaze upon the picture and note what it presents. The figure suggests a fit individual, clothed in an attractive modern technical garment, ready to ascend the latest PNW testpiece with vigor, yet with one glaringly obvious shortcoming. The climber has no head. Stunning, shocking, brilliant. I amaze myself sometimes.

Muffy, the whole point of your post is, like, totally lost on me.

First, I noticed that you spelled preventive using both accepted conventions. Second I would suggest that tieing a knot is an obvious preventative method (as opposed to the). Another good idea is to warn all users of your altered rope of the post-factory modifications in perpetuity (or at least until you abandon the rope). Finally, I think that "carrying on" or showing people what an idiot you are, or whatever euphemism you choose to employ is the whole point of spray.
-
Seems totally obvious to not run your car into a tree, building or sidewalk full of pedestrians, but you hear about that fairly often too.
-
Cool. I never thought of myself as tall before.

Wow Otto! Nice, well written, report of what sounds like a fantastic trip. Sounds like one of those trips where, upon looking back on it, it seems like you were always in control. But while on the climb you were continually wondering whether you could pull it off. Those are the best. As JoshK would say, "that is the whole point of climbing". Oh, and thanks for the update on your current condition.
