Off_White
And that's a damned shame. I never met him, but being one degree of separation away I've heard a lot of friends talk about what a great guy he was, and what a loss of a real deal climber. num1mc
I heard a good story about him and a friend of mine doing a night of drunk dialing to a bunch of notables.
ivan
is he dead, or just climbing rocks in another dimension?
olyclimber
I don't know why I just came across this, but I have a copy of the climbing guide that he and Fred Beckey did for Leavenworth. Its more just like a booklet or pamphlet. Definitely a PNW legend. Pretty sure I have at least one of of his SW climbing guides too.
Otto
I never met the man but I bought this book in 1989, which was published the year before. As a Cascades climber, I had some desert dreams but was too scared of sandstone to do the adventure trips following the book would require. Too foreign, too strange. I admired his courage and persistence. May he rest in peace.
