Eric K Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 (edited) I noticed this while climbing Monday, anything to worry about? Also has anyone tried the petzl screw sharpener on bd screws? Edited November 20, 2014 by Eric K Quote
JDCH Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I have the petzl screw sharpener and i think it is brilliant. Yes, it will slightly change the angle on the BD screws, but it makes them very sharp, and as long as you use the sharpener evenly on all 4 teeth it doesnt matter. I noticed no difference placing them after the angle had changed, other than a sharp screw that started easy Quote
Ben Beckerich Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 (edited) Here's what's up with your harness: The loop is probably no less safe, looking like that, than it was the day you walked out of REI with it. But where do we draw the line? Visible fraying on nylon products is a good place to do it. Your call, though..... it's your life. And your partners. Edited November 20, 2014 by Ben Beckerich Quote
Eric K Posted November 20, 2014 Author Posted November 20, 2014 Cool I'll keep using it. I have been told by many people I keep my stuff to long so I am trying to ask others before things get real bad. Quote
G-spotter Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 If there's doubt, throw it out. That simple. Quote
Pete_H Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Take that rig back to REI and get a new one! Quote
Eric K Posted November 21, 2014 Author Posted November 21, 2014 I wish I could but it's not from REI. I have not shopped there for a while now. Quote
kurthicks Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Looks like an Arc'teryx harness. I had one that did the same thing at the end of the outside loop of the belay loop. You might call the manufacturer. I just assessed it myself and chose a simpler option—which involved some scissors and a lighter. Quote
montypiton Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 if ya don't trust the belay loop, thread a runner through your harness tie-in points and clip to that. Quote
