lutzman Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I must have met these two. I was up there on the 20th attempting to bag witches tower, annapurna and mcclellan car to car. didn't make it back to the bottom of aasgard until around 11pm that day, and in the dark, I watched two headlamps bob down the pass behind me until I hit the lake. about 10 minutes after that, the horrific rock fall Holsten must be talking about went off with them in it. Some fucking how they eventually caught up with me, we exchanged a few words about what happened and off they went with no delay. Â anyways, great read, amazing to see these stuart range monoliths pushed to their absolute limit Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 That's fricking intense, great read, what an achievement. Quote
Blake Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Hi Lutzman, I was one of the two climbers you met by the lake on the 20th, and offered you that headlight. We had done a "recon " day and were horrified by the rockfall on the trail, sorry if we seemed a little out of it. Glad you were not caught in the debris either! Quote
lutzman Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 I figured that was you, thanks for the response! that was one hell of a day/night, hopefully next time I have the chance to run into you guys its under some better circumstances Quote
JasonG Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Wait, am I missing something? Where is the discussion of the rockfall? Quote
Blake Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 There was major rockfall coming down Aasgard Pass (off D-tail)? which swept past Jens and I in the dark when we were on the trail, a few hundred feet above colchuck lake. Very scary to end your day with dangerous on-trail hiking. Quote
lunger Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Sounds pretty alarming. Will be interested to see the origin/scar. Â Incredible effort Blake and Jens! Adding some flavor to familiar terrain (for you); extra salty. Quote
wayne Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) What a mind-blowing effort on the part of these young stallions! How do you top this? trip report please. :edit:, found one! http://blakeclimbs.blogspot.com/ Edited August 10, 2014 by wayne Quote
