JayB Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 "Ironically, the Administration's own signature healthcare victory poses one of the most immediate challenges to redressing inequality. Yes, the Affordable Care Act will help many more Americans gain some health insurance coverage, a significant step forward for equality. At the same time, without smart fixes, the ACA threatens the middle class with higher premiums, loss of hours, and a shift to part-time work and less comprehensive coverage." ivan Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 hmmm...countries that fair well on equality measures mostly seem to have universal healthcare and public options...strange Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 Yes, this is yet one of many excellent arguments for single payer. On the flip side, there really aren't any credible arguments against single payer at this point. Private health insurance companies has proven that the profit motive and providing health care are at odds. They need to go away. Quote
JayB Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 All very convincing and compelling gents, but what to do about the folks at "UNITE HERE [which] represents members across North America who work in the hospitality industry, airports, food service, gaming, laundry, textile, manufacturing, and Transportation" industries. Very puzzling. Quote
Crux Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 (edited) Obviously, we either need to implement single payer, or see those industries shut down. Point taken. Edited March 13, 2014 by Crux Quote
