telemarker Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Does anyone know if the Skull Hollow CG is open. The website says it's open until December, but I heard it was closed recently. Any updated info would be appreciated! Quote
CapitalNathan Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 I was there the weekend of the 5th and the campsite was unaffected by the shutdown. They were even taking out the trash. I would imagine they'll still up be and running now. Quote
num1mc Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Per night, per site fee: $5/first vehicle; $3/each additional vehicle. This is a concessionaire operated facility, and concessionaires are not required to recognize all Forest Service Passes. Quote
telemarker Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Excellent! Thanks for the information! Quote
telemarker Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Looks like Congress is striking a deal today anyway. Quote
selkirk Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Smith is a State Park, not a national one. Quote
telemarker Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Yes, I understand Smith is a state park, but I was told that Skull Hollow CG is on Fed land, which was my original inquiry. Quote
shapp Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Skull Hollow is a USFS campground How can that be, I thought it was on BLM land Quote

G-spotter Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 bump what's the deal with Skull Hollow these days? Cost per night? Presence of sketchy squatter dudes? Fires still allowed? Does the Smith Rocks bivouac site have free wifi? Help a brother out. Might be in Oregon this weekend for the first time in years. Quote
jeb013 Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Skull hollow is pretty decent. $5 a night It has a camp host so no sketchy squatters that I saw Fires are still allowed Don't expect to crash early. It is a popular spot for large groups who like to enjoy themselves. Don't think the bivy has wifi yet. Although that might change any minute at this rate. jeb Quote
Water Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 bivy doesn't have wifi? I get wifi when i'm just in the parkinglot--and even down by the river. But it doesn't make it over there? Quote
YocumRidge Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Nice, Drew. May be see you out there? Yes, the Skullhollow is open, just don't use the bathroom. It's worse than the one @ the BLM CG in Red Rocks. Quote
jeb013 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I've always gotten 3G/4G service but never an actual wifi router signal. But in the end it's all the same if you are using your phone. jeb Quote
