ryland_moore Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Came through the gorge this morning as I so daily for my commute. Ice is forming well and dare I say that some lines MAY go at exit 35. Crown Jewel is close and best its been all season but not in yet. Lines east of Multnomah forming nicely. If up for some adventure, tomorrow looks like best opportunity as warm weather moving in tomorrow afternoon. Cascade Locks has been colder than PDF and hood river by a few degrees. Low tonight is supposed to be around 20 with freezing rain moving in around 6am. Be careful out there! Quote
ivan Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 bery frosty at beacon this evening n' nuking winds! mist falls looked good from across the river at least... Quote
Plaidman Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I will be looking on the way out to UTAH!!! Gonna get some more ice like this one! Â The Fang - Provo Canyon Quote
powderhound Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 anyone got morning report of the gorge? I bet there is some decent ice in there now. Pic preferable. I would like to see a pic of Anisworth. Quote
ryland_moore Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 Still looked good as of 7am. No one out that I saw. Ainsworth was the best of the bunch. Also some smaller rarely forming flows just west of mist may go. Crown may go but thin and open flows in middle. Would be spicy and likely not much pro above first anchor on left. Â Quote
powderhound Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Climbed 3/4's of first pitch of Anisworth last night, then retreated due to the shower of ice and rock that came down. Pretty proud of onisghting the approach in the dark. Very wet, but all there...just wish I didn't have to work and i could slay it during the day. Mist is def climbable. Â -Bryan Schmitz Quote
ryland_moore Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Great work! Glad someone got out! The approach in the dark must have been the crux! You may be the only one to get on Ainsworth all year! Looked pretty wet today. Such is ice in the gorge! Quote
ScaredSilly Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Slightly OT but Plaidman conditions here in Oootah are shit unless you want to play Roulette. Â http://utahavalanchecenter.org/avalanches/avalanche-provo-canyon-1 Â The Fang as well as the rest of the climbs up canyon from Stairway are death traps. Quote
layton Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 sucks if you had to guide in provo canyon today like me Quote
