Visiting this week -mt baker still good to go?

Hello. Want to plod up mt baker coleman denning with a mate while visiting the NW this week. Anyone tell me if the cole.-denning glacier route still in reasonable condition? Will arriving today to seatle and hope to go on mon-tues. thanks for advise.

Mt Baker typically enjoys a long season, and this was a late snow year. While I have not been up this year, I'd bet a dollar it should be in fine shape. Perhaps bring a few screws for a running belay on the Roman Wall, that section can get icy.

if you want up to the date info, try calling the american alpine institute office. they have guides on baker every week all summer. if you are nice, they shoudl give you good answers.

 

I would bet money that it is in and fine to go.

I climbed it a week ago. Good condition, some crevasses opening up but line is direct. There is practically a trench to walk through to get up the Roman wall and if you have any snow experience you should not need protection at all.
