Trip: South Early Winter Spire - Direct East Buttress

 

Date: 7/21/2012

 

Trip Report:

Gene and I climbed this route on Saturday July 21st.

We were 13 hours car to car with about one hour total breaks on route, summit and descent.

This was my first route on the East facing aspect and it was stunning.

Here are some pics.

There's a classic shot of Beckey very near this spot. Frantically dug around my bookshelf and found it in Harlin's "West Coast Rock Climbs", which was one of my early bibles.

@ Curt - it would be hard not to take that shot given the opportunity as the position is fantastic.

 

@ Quarry - there were a handful of them although the majority of the bolts were good modern equipment.
