tvashtarkatena Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 "When it comes to pressure cookers there is only one name that people across India trust....this versatile cooking utensil has reduced the burden of the housewife and made cooking a lot easier....The Prestige Deluxe works on any type of fuels: Gas, Kerosene, Electric hot plate, Charcoal/Sigree and induction hob." - Owner's manual for a TTK Prestige Deluxe Pressure Cooker, recently purchased on Amazon The thing cooked pre-soaked pinto beans in 3 minutes flat. Un-pressurized cook time for same runs about 1.5 hours. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted September 29, 2011 Author Posted September 29, 2011 The manual keeps going on and on about all the redundant safety features. I guess a lot of Indians are killed by pressure cookers. Quote
AlpineK Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 But if you cover the pressure relief valve they cook even faster. [img:center]http://thebestofthymes.com/img/pressurecooker.jpg[/img] [img:center]http://www.rumproast.com/images/uploads/casserole004_thumb.jpg[/img] Quote
DPS Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 My mother had this ancient aluminum (highly prized at the time due to war time shortages of aluminum) pressure cooker that she would reduce any and all vegetable matter to the consistency of mush. I stayed out of the kitchen when she used that thing, I was certain one day it would blow up the house. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted September 29, 2011 Author Posted September 29, 2011 There's a card in the manual I can fill out to send away for a free cook book. I'll need to tick the language desired: English Hindi Tamil Kannada (eh?) Telugu Malayalam Marathi Gujarathi Bengali Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted September 29, 2011 Author Posted September 29, 2011 Come to think of it, all house plants do is kick back. Quote
