COL._Von_Spanker Posted October 17, 2002 Posted October 17, 2002 Y'all don't know shit...A sooner was a person or persons who, during the Oklahoma land rush, secretly departed and staked their claim before the designated time, hence the name sooners, they left sooner than everyone else. Â My drunk irish relatives were sooners. Quote

Harry_Pi Posted October 21, 2002 Posted October 21, 2002 Okie From Muskogee Favorite song in China!  (Roy Edward Burris, Merle Ronald Haggard)  We don¡¯t smoke Marijuana in Muskogee We don¡¯t take no trips on LSD We don¡¯t burn our draft cards down on Main Street We like living right and being free.  We don¡¯t make a party out of loving But we like holding hands and pitching woo. We don¡¯t let our hair grow long and shaggy LiKe the hippies out in San Francisco do.  And I¡¯m proud to be an Okie from Muskogee A place where even squares can have a ball. We still wave Old Glory down at the Courthouse And White Lightning¡¯s still the biggest thrill of all.  Boots are still in style manly footwear, Beads and roman sandals won¡¯t be seen. Football¡¯s still the roughest thing on the Campus And the kids there still respect the College Dean.  And I¡¯m proud to be an Okie from Muskogee I swear even squares can have a ball. We still wave Old Glory down at the Courthouse And White Lightning¡¯s still the biggest thrill of all, And White Lightning¡¯s still the biggest thrill of all.  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote
Harry_Pi Posted November 8, 2002 Posted November 8, 2002 Sooner still kick booty, win every game so far this season, win tomorrow also. We China people love Oklahoma. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted November 8, 2002 Author Posted November 8, 2002 aggies ain't got no chance. too bad the sooners won't get to kick those whiny-assed hurricanes where it hurts ... (watch for the hokies to do it on december 7th, though!) Quote
ryland_moore Posted November 9, 2002 Posted November 9, 2002 Is there a closet Va Tech fan in the house? I don't know, with Jones out and the quaterback sucking, that is a big role for Suggs to handle all by himself. My parents have season tickets to the Hokies. I am hoping that Tech will lose to Miami and then they will be forced to play the DUcks in a bowl game. Quote
thelawgoddess Posted November 9, 2002 Author Posted November 9, 2002 i ain't no closet fan; i'm totally out with my hokie-ness. it was the first school i went to out of high school ... and i used to lift weights five days/week with those big guys! Quote
RobBob Posted November 9, 2002 Posted November 9, 2002 Okay, I'll say it: I am...a Virginia Tech engineering grad. Hokie Hokie Hokie Hi! Quote
Winter Posted November 9, 2002 Posted November 9, 2002 Tech fans? Â Pitt romped for the 2nd year in a row. Alomst like the days of Hugh Green and Dan "can I snort the sideline?" Marino. Quote
ryland_moore Posted November 9, 2002 Posted November 9, 2002 Don't you know all dirt roads lead to Blacksburg? That's what my Dad (UVa grad) always says to my Mom (Va Tech grad). But Uva football sucks and Suggs went to my highschool in Roanoke, so I will always route for Tech over anyone other than the Ducks. Let's hope they don't lose to 'Cuse this weekend. I'll be at the Uva/Tech game at Lane Stadium over Thanksgiving, so I'll shout out a gobble or two for y'all! Quote
thelawgoddess Posted November 9, 2002 Author Posted November 9, 2002 i studied architecture there, but not for very long. finances forced me to leave - sob, sob. i have such fond memories of that school, though!!! including my first blackout at one of theta xi's toga parties ... (damn that jim beam!!!) Quote
RobBob Posted November 9, 2002 Posted November 9, 2002 Winter, I'll let you get my dad riled up over football....I've lost interest. I'm interested in sports that I participate in, like (occasionally) climbing... Quote
