FBI Arrests Four on Terror Charges Friday, October 04, 2002 PORTLAND, Ore. — At least four American-born U.S. citizens have been arrested by the FBI on charges they tried to sign up with terrorists to fight against the United States after the Sept. 11 attacks. The suspects were arrested in Portland. There were reports that two other American citizens -- one in Detroit and one overseas, possibly in Malaysia -- also were in custody. Officials told Fox News that the arrests are related to the Al Qaeda terror group, but it is not clear that the detained Americans were actual members of the group. Attorney General John Ashcroft planned to reveal details of the arrests at a 1 p.m. EDT press conference. Quote
