olyclimber Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 I'm not a big soccer fan (I've never been to a pro game ever). I watched a little Euro soccer when I was on a trip over there and watched a little world cup action with the vevuzulas. The Timbers are joining the MLS...should be a good rivalry. Just so you guys know, Portland SUCKS!!! Quote
olyclimber Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 No response? I thought so. Now bow down to Seattle. Quote
olyclimber Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 TEAM SPORTS! YOU KNOW YOU LOVE IT! Quote
olyclimber Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 Billcoe linked that earlier. Good stuff, I want to see the rest of the series. But unfortunately the clown outfits won't WIN A TEAM SPORTS GAME. Then the poor town that loses will be inferior in some way. Quote
John Frieh Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 As my football coach in high school often said "soccer is popular in communist countries" :laf: It would make sense Portland and Seattle have pro teams Quote
olyclimber Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 "Portland, the New York for people who can't survive the mean streets of Williamsburg, is the perfect setting for satire and general merry-making. Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein (of Portland's own Sleater-Kinney) are taking advantage of the city's many eccentricities for their new IFC series Portlandia." LOL Quote
olyclimber Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 yeah well it isn't American. we have our own FOOTBALL, which we throw with our hands. it makes more sense that way! And the dudes get to wear tights, which makes way more sense then wearing shorts. Quote
olyclimber Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 Carrie Brownstein (of Portland's own Sleater-Kinney) like the 1/2 of Portland that isn't from CA or NY, she is from WA. Quote
olyclimber Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 I'm definitely losing my ability to troll effectively, even with a pocket full of rash generalizations. Quote
John Frieh Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Kevbone is from Vancouver or I bet he'd go for it... Quote
John Frieh Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Maybe if you bring back Chaps. Or Martlet... Martlet was the king of trolls... MOONBATS! Quote
billcoe Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I'm definitely losing my ability to troll effectively, even with a pocket full of rash generalizations. You definatly lost a half step someplace. It's OK, just write it off to age and move on like I do. Quote
rocky_joe Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 I'm really stoked to have the Timbers as an MLS team. I follow Everton (English League) religiously and am excited to have a "home" team to support, and even more excited to get up there for a few match weekends. Quote
ZimZam Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 yeah well it isn't American. we have our own FOOTBALL, which we throw with our hands. it makes more sense that way! And the dudes get to wear tights, which makes way more sense then wearing shorts. Wish they had Aussie Rules Football here. No tights, no helmets or pads. Smear the queer. A few punters in the NFL have come from there. They aren't like a typical P in the NFL, they'll get in there and lay out the return man. The Celtic game of hurling is fun to watch too. ... Quote
