Matt_Anderson
Hey, planning on bivying at the south col of Early Winter's Spire before doing a route on the south east face. I'd like to know how far it is to the nearest water so I can avoid schleppin with water in the pack. Specifically: How far to Blue lake? Are there snow patches' near the col? If so, is there runnoff from the patches so I can just iodine the water or do I need to bring a stove to melt it? Thanks matt

robertm
Erik might bring the "bong" water. I would bring some potable too.
Cpt.Caveman
I once heard an army soldier think the definition of Potable was "doesn't that mean you can take it with you sergeant?"
Dru
Sounds like the one about the guy who showed up for his vasectomy operation in a tuxedo. "Well if'n Ah'm gonna be impo'tint Ah wanna look impo'tint!"
David_Parker
Speaking of that throne room at the WA pass overlook, does anyone know the actual cost of that thing. I heard $250,000 to $300,000. Now do you get an idea where our money goes when you give to the Forest Service or Uncle Sam's general fund. Give me a break. What's funny though is the shack the forest service representative has to sit in right next door! BTW: Eric and I gave a Forest Service Truck a parking ticket last weekend. More to come on that one, including a photo!
haireball
Matt, I was there yesterday - no snow, and the closest water is the restroom on the top of Washington Pass. Blue Lake is farther from the col than the col is from the highway.
Mr._Blister
Sleep at the WA Pass lookout in the bushes. Plenty of water at the mega-bathroom.
