WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Ticks on Thunder Knob- Diablo Lake

Recommended Posts

I never thought I had to worry around Diablo Lake (esp. in March!), but I pulled one out of our two year old on Saturday. It had burrowed in a bit, and our son was NOT happy to have it pulled out. Just thought others might want to know if you are taking kids up this trail (or others in the area) in the near future.

Same at Mt. Erie, so far friends got tick bit in January and Feb this year! One friend took his shirt off to find two dug in and two more crawling.

I found 4 on me at Mt. Erie, especially hiking in from the bottom! That explains the route "Dances with Ticks"!!! Never had a problem up top at Summit Wall or Powerline, etc.

I started wearing a dog collar around my ankle. In the field a lot, sometimes area's normal people stay out of.

It just a white flea and tick collar. Only found one tick on me since then and it was on my shoulder. This includes stays in draws / swamps / bog's all the fun places.
