    "Spill. Baby. Spill"

notice the new line or was it posted already? http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/05/15/experts-agree-size-oil-spill-matters/ and of course http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/14/bp-ceo-gulf-oil-spill-rel_n_576215.html
  8. for what its worth i use rings.
  9. my personality is against slow. Its ingrained in me to go hard and give 100% all the time. My peers are confused but my injury as it's the first time they can remember i am injured but at the same time i still hang.
  10. i self relocated it today and now the swelling is down. After the set of x-rays on more was out of place somehow. I tend to heal fast. so if i can run fine monday, i will try out climbing Wednesday and see how it goes. Heck the first time i saw the doc he wanted to cast before x-rays. Army doc's suck really, but at the same time i need to make sure i don't over do it.
  11. My ankle is semi fubar, I hurt it playing football and dislocated a couple of small bones in the foot. Nothing broken or major it. Just swelling and pain. Does anyone have good techniques for rehab? I can bear for full weight walking be can't rotate it and bear weigh. Its fine for biking and walking but as soon as i try to place and turn it goes. 2 weeks ago the doc said 4 weeks, today he said 4 more. j
  12. #4 can be solved with training the boys on team work and proper knots so they can aid the other climbers.

    Mt Hood

heck you could have just titled the thread and left it blank in that case.
  15. I am from Michigan, stationed out at Lewis. I did St Helens in wrap around wiley x's (really dark issued sun glasses). But I think the Oakley's are about half as dark. So I might need to test it out. It should be getting brighter out over here. Which will give me a chance to test them a bit on sand. If they suck I still got the other pair waiting on me. I say Michigan, but wonder if the Glacier reflection was any worse then ton of snow we had all winter.
  16. Now what about Oakley's? I already have a pair of polarized ones. Safe bet to use them? After Michigan doesn't have glaciers like Washington does.

    Finishing My Rack

this is what i got now its the white thing on the left. But I want a willys.
  18. OK nice trip report, now don't ever do it again. Ever hear of the P rule? Prior Planing Prevent Poor Performance? Use this next time and maybe the police won't be at your house. What trail are you hiking? Where will your car be parked? Where is your approximate turnaround point (or campsite for an overnight)? When are you leaving for your hike (date / time)? When do you expect to arrive back home (date / time)? Who are you hiking with? Land Manager contact information (find contact information here): Do you have a backup hike in mind in case the first trail doesn’t pan out? Here is a copy of my map(s). I am 33 years old and drop something similar every time I go out. PM or post me some photos of the issues with your bike I might be able to tell you some cheap fixes to help you out a bit. I love to get out alone also, but at the same time I want to live to bag the next one.
  19. I started wearing a dog collar around my ankle. In the field a lot, sometimes area's normal people stay out of. It just a white flea and tick collar. Only found one tick on me since then and it was on my shoulder. This includes stays in draws / swamps / bog's all the fun places.
  20. I use fish oil. Seems to help A LOT. I have huge shoulder issues from various fun stuff over the years and none of which surgery can fix. Both as a whole are fun. I just take it at night, if I take in the morning I burp fish taste all day. When I am off it a week I notice it.

Thor just noticed your second post. Must have been taking my time typing. missed that deal, oh well. The WSDOT website search sucks. I will have to stop in and ask. Unless I find a 46' jeep willys first. 3 Weeks and I will be climbing!

    Finishing My Rack

Cutting down the tooth brush to save weight? So after I figure out my favorite sizes of gear then I get to stock up on the triplets. Or I need to find a partner that's got money to burn. Which I am gonna need soon, Since my current partner in crime just got orders to Texas in june. Got car can travel, anyone looking for a partner? (Starting in May). Also he is the one with the rope so now I need to get one of those one day too. Seems the more I get the more I still need to get. But I decided tricams for now, it gives me a completish selection to choose from I guess. Also anyone got links to the Washington Vehicle Laws on lift height for suspension? I want to bring out my trail rig but I don't want to get a ticket as soon as its off the trailer.
  23. I second the start small. If the doctor doesn't flat out say no. Your friend might need a mask. When running in the extreme cold I use a dust mask. I normally change them out every 3 miles on the run. It might help. Since the air is coming in is warmed up by the exhale. cystic fibrosis unfortunately is one of those disease's that only get worse. But your friend can do this if their health is good enough at this point. I would start with day hikes, do a couple of mixed elevation changes to start then a harder incline only. After that try to move to a weekend multi-day trip. St Helens is a "hard" one but in the winter involves Snow Shoes. Which is harder on the body. Not sure if your in the Seattle area but there are plenty of hikes to choose from to start with. If the doc ok's your friend to get out and do this. I would start with this plan and see how he/she does. 3-4 Weeks Day hiking getting a bit harder each week 2-4 Weeks Multi / Weekend trips 2-4 Weeks Day Hiking with snow shoes 2-4 Weeks of Weekend Trips with snow and a pack With an honest eval at the end of every trip. There is not a point of pushing pass the limits if its gonna hurt your friend in the long run. While new to rock climbing. I am not new to hiking. Also the partner should have enough first aid training if needed to be able to sustain till SAR gets there.
