rbw1966 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I've seen several people skiing from the summit on the Spur Quote
billcoe Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Wow, skiing from the summit down the Spur would be ballsy. Anyone know of this being done? I'm sure some nutjobs have pulled it off, but wow, one slip and you're a permanent Elliot Glacier red spot. The French guys skied off the North Face proper, steeper than the spur, about 25 or so years ago. Anselm Baud and Patrick Vallencourt came through here showing off the film of their amazing ski down the 50 degree north side of Mt Blanc.....then Sylvia Syvain...or sy...something......hmmmm....somebody google it, I think he'd already done it. Anyway, here's a blast from teh past, check out the 2nd from the top video. http://www.offpistemag.com/archives_cat.asp?cat=13 Quote
Ptown_Climber1 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I know a snowboarder tried it 'unsuccessfully' a few years back..... Quote
Joe_Poulton Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 A guy I know from Boulder Snowboarded about 3/4 of it a few years back and launched a 30ft air at some spot....I plan to ski with my Motocross DOT approved full face helmet...make a few turns at the start and if the snow is good then straight shoot it...because you only fall at the beginning of a turn anyway...so, if I don't turn, I don't fall.....actually, I don't know how I'll ski it until I get there. OlegV Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Wayne, congratulations on Black spider! The ice looks a little thin. Do you think Eliot HW conditions are similar? Thanks! Quote

Jay Chute Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 skiing or snowboarding down the spur is a VERY BAD idea...one slip and your toast...elliot eats you for dinner...deathwish...Go for the old chute instead on the ss Quote
