MtnHigh Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 As recommended right here on cc.com, by an experienced, knowledgeable and credible source, the test to determine if ice flows are forming in the Gorge is to place a bucket of water in your back yard and see how long it takes to completely freeze. I did so on Saturday. To my giddy surprise the bucket is completely frozen this morning. Now the pondering questions are... Is it worth the time and effort to tour the Gorge in search of ice based on the results of the proven urban environment test? Should I make another pot of coffee, stay home and search the net for ice? Are 30 mph winds currently blowing in the Gorge sufficient information to stay home with coffee and internet? Quote
pdk Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 go do a full recon of both OR and WA sides, and email the results to me and only me. thanks Quote

ivan Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 i wouldn't be that excited yet pete - it was windy as hell at beacon y-day but still the day time temps were above freezing - if you got the time though, why not take a drive? Quote
BillA Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Pete! Nate and I drove through the gorge this morning on the way back from Montana. Things are starting to come in really nicely, nothing looked ready yet, but if the forecast holds it should be good to go in the next couple days... Quote
