kevino Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) Trip: Hyalite - Ice Date: 11/20/2009 Trip Report: I had three days off of work and David has no job, so what better way to spend time then to climb ice! It had already been a month since we had been to Cody, so we were due for some more. The plan: I get off work at 0230 -> drive through the morning and climb until dark friday. Crash at friends house and climb saturday. Again, crash at friends house, climb in the morning and drive back home. Day 1: Asteroid and Comet Approach: The payoff: The common theme for the weekend - spindrift: Day 2: Thin but fun ice on green sleeves: We continued up to hangover: once again, on the thin side. David leading... Me following... We crossed the valley to take a ride on the elevator shaft... Day 3: We came back to the East Fork to enjoy the champagne... In the slot And the sherbert Go get some! Approach Notes: Drive... ...drive... ...and avoid this! Edited November 23, 2009 by kevino Quote

davidk Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Part of what made this a great trip for us was the fact that the access is really good right now. Not too much snow, good trails pounded out to the climbs that are in, and the East Fork road is very driveable right now. Go get some, and keep beating in the trails! It's worth adding for some of you guys heading there soon that "The Good Looking One" (Unnamed Wall) was actually pretty good looking... and it appeared that it was climbed the day we saw it. Even with a whipper on Sherbert, seeing all the carnage on I-90 made me feel like our sport isn't as dangerous as some make it out to be Quote
counterfeitfake Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Damn, is that half a WRX? Ice on rock good, ice on road bad. Quote

neffpeter Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Rad trip, guys. I hope to get after some ice when I return home from "The Ice" down south. Keep on killing it and, perhaps more importantly, drive safe. Quote
