112 Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Why is this forum only visible when I am logged in? I couldn't find it today surfing cc anonymously from work. Also, do TRs from Vantage go here as well? Quote
ivan Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 noticed the same thing - appears ya gotta be a confirmed local 'fore you can hone in on the secrets of the dread beacon mord-wand! Quote
JosephH Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Don't you mean a committed local? We're all on the road to insanity out there. Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 so we can post photos of Columbia River climbing here? Ok, heres a few for you Beacon guys who don't usually venture out east to far....all the choss you can handle.... Quote
el jefe Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 ok, stevetimetravlr, where were these photos taken? or is this turning into another one of those "i've got a secret crag" threads... Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Bulo, Area 51, places like that. Quote
billcoe Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Good stuff....but Gorge? Hmmm, (he goes off to look in a map) Quote
JosephH Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I personally don't consider Beacon to be part of the general 'Gorge' choss climbing scene any more than I consider it part of Washington. Beacon is not the 'Gorge'. Quote
denalidave Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 If Beacon is not the Gorge, what the hell is the beautiful view I'm looking at from any of the routes there? I get your point though. Quote
el jefe Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 if i follow you, joseph, then you are saying there needs to be an independent "beacon" forum for all things beacon-related and that anything pertaining to stuff in the gorge that isn't beacon should be put in the "columbia river gorge" forum? i'm also assuming that this proposed "beacon only" forum will be password protected... stevetimetravlr Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I guess I should qualify my photos are places you climb if you live in the Gorge. Beacon qualifies by my reckoning. Ozone, Horsethief, Crow Butte, Hwy 44 areas and everything in between. Quote
JosephH Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 The climbing in the rest of the Gorge along with the crags out of HR and White Salmon have little in common with climbing at Beacon given most of it is sport. Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) Best technical finger splitter cracks in the Gorge by far near Lyle on semi remote crag. Hwy. 35 has some fabulous crack climbs just developed that rivals anything at Beacon. But if you are referring to andesite crags and the general choss, then I agree with you Joseph! stevetimetravlr Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Any of the Beacon crew want to drive on out to Hood river and we'll take you guys cragging out here? When its raining at Beacon many times, it will be sunshining out east here. Quote
LostCamKenny Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 ?i'm also assuming that this proposed "beacon only" forum will be password protected... you mean you don't know yet?!? Quote
el jefe Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 kenny, looks like i'm not one of the cool kids after all... Quote
denalidave Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Not sure who this is, Eldiente, maybe? Pretty sure the route is Pipeline, if I remember correctly. Free for All Dastardly Crack Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 a little Gorge chimney climbing Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 What route is the guy on the left coming off of? Quote
