STP
[img:center]http://xx-xy.org/seagull.jpg[/img] Stanley was the type of man who tempted death on a daily basis. He craved the sheer rush of adrenaline experienced while climbing the most dangerous stretches of rock in the world. Here, the danger was not the angle of the rock or the pounding sea below but rather the emotional intensity of the jealous rage exhibited by the birds inhabiting this coastal crag. The frenzy of the birds grew more agitated and violent as Stanley climbed higher. But this time it was different. A nagging doubt had compelled him to stop. Last night, Abigail had mentioned something intriguing, some arcane message deciphered from a fragment of a Greek inscription found on a tomb. Like a lightning bolt, the meaning struck him as he paused in full contact with the wet rock, the noise of the birds and the pounding surf fading away as he heard the sound of someone saying: “Live free or die. Death is not the worst of evils.”
