powderhound Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Looking to get out and climb some rock during the sunny day on Tuesday or Wednesday any takers? Quote
billcoe Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Beacon is closed, but I hear there may be a new bolt ladder at Broughtons which you might be able to free. Broughtons is sheltered from the wind and stays warmer this time of year is perhaps no small thing as well weather dependent. Link link Quote
powderhound Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 So since beacon is closed: Rocky Butte, Broughtons, Ozone, or Far Side. Quote
billcoe Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Yup, the butte gets the least sun, so that might have to be at the back of the list. Jimmys may be open too, I almost headed up that road Sunday on the way back from the Mt to check. Pete's would have been do-able, there's that little snow. Sometimes Pete's has ice form on it, if you ever go to Meadows, come down the road to Hood River and you can check. I didn't see any yesterday as I went past, I was trying to look, too warm last week and too dry generally I expect. Quote
denalidave Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Only "part" of Beacon is closed. Yeah, the GOOD part. I plan to hit the west/north side routes again soon though. Quote

Jim told me years ago he wanted to put a "BOLT LADDER" right over the roof where the trail meets the rock, where the sign is. I think you tried a route there a while back. This was Jims idea. Quote
Plaidman Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Jim and I were going to rap the route last week. He told me it as 9 raps and they wander a bit. Maybe we can get it done on Sunday. I am willing to part-take of any and all adventures on that side of Beacon. Love that rock. Damn the birds. Plaidman Quote
kevbone Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 It does wander quite a bit. Super fun day though.....You will see "rancho relaxo". Jim will explain Quote
ivan Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 beautiful day at beacon 2day - rapped down to big ledge w/ joe and pimped out the scrape - wonder if they'll apreciate the 2000 frak'n tons of pea gravel the wildlife guy thought they would? reminded me how i need to always rap w/ big weight off my back - holy fawk! rancho relaxo's fun to climb up to as well plaiddude - tomorrow it'll be plenty dry enough - using the old-skewl original via ferrata appartus alone makes it worthwhile Quote
kevbone Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I have climbed the iron with jim before. Good times. Quote
