Do you have any old climbing magazines?

If so, CC.com is gathering climbing magazines (old ones as well as current) to send over seas to climbers serving our country in the military. Rock & Ice, Climbing Mag, Alpinist, or any other climbing magazine will work. PM myself or Jon in the Seattle area for collection and CC.com will pay to ship these magazines abroad. We already have a couple of service men who are asking for anything to read other than the rags they have laying around at their station.

See this thread for more info.

You can PM or email Jon or I for collection in the Seattle area, or just send off yourself a climbing magazine care package to the addresses mentioned in the link above.

Thanks everyone!

This is so great of an idea! I have about a full 10 years or more (prolly 50 lbs worth) of Climbing rags lying in boxes that I haven't opened since I moved from Yakima almost 4 years ago. My wife tried to get me to toss 'em before the move, but I kept telling her that someday they might come in useful. Saying "I told ya so" is gonna feel real good... :smirk:

So how do I get this load to ya?

If you use a priority mail flat rate box there is one size that will fit normal size climbing mags perfectly. You can get 30 or more in one box. Costs a flat rate of $10 to then mail it to an APO.

Priority mail will actually get there this century as well :)

Forgot to add...most of you hosers have other magazines laying about, bike, motorcycle, gun, triathalon, newsweek, lingerie catalogs, your collection of porno...like who is gonna look besides the morals POLICE.... and the typical homes and gardens, Rolling Stone, GQ or Cosmo can brighten a day . Trust me for guys/gals hanging out in a dirt hole one day or a hospital the next, variety can be the spice of life. But you get the idea :)

Well, someone's get all pissy when they find those Victoria Secret catalogs I interspersed in there, but I would hardly call that pr0n...

they caught about 50% of the booze i sent my brother, even though i strategically put it into mouthwash bottles - maybe they didnt' think a simple soldier needs 120 oz of listerine?

FYI two flat rate priority boxes free from the post office that work well for magazines. One is 8.5 x 11 and perfect for magazines called the "regular" size. Will hold 24 or so magazines depending on thickness. Costs $10 to ship to an APO. The bigger called the large, 12x12, takes paper back books, set on end, or odd size stuff with magazines. But you get a $2.00 discount for APO shipments so it costs $11.00.

For those looking for an APO address to send stuff to?

Jason posts here as "sandman" and works in one of our hospitals in Iraq and can put to good use what we send. DVDs, videos are welcome as I'd bet paperback books are as well.

Maj. Jason Sweeney

332d EMDG/OR-Anesthesia

APO AE 09315-9997

And another for Thomas (posts as tslease_19) and his buddies.

SGT Slease, Thomas

B Co 2-8 IN

FOB Echo, Iraq APO AE 09332

Anyone else out there that needs some reading material? If so, post your APO and we'll get soemthing on the way for you!

Hey guys HOW ABOUT MAKING this a STICKY for the duration
