DirtyHarry Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Its probably a safe speculation that you couldn't possibly pick a worse time to approach and climb Chair Peak. Quote
Farrgo Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Those climbs are in condition for so much of the year... just wait for better snow conditions and get after it then. Quote
Bug Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 You are screwed just like the rest of us. Live to climb another day. Quote
kinnikinnick Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 i realize its a shitty time to go; the 31st is the only day we can get together to climb. does anyone think coleman glacier seracs are top-ropeable at this time? Quote
John Frieh Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 No. Head to Banks Lake or something in Leavenworth. Find something you can top rope. Quote
fredrogers Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 1 fatality, multiple near misses with injuries (and some without) here in the Mazama area this weekend. Bad time to be outta bounds right now. Be safe, climb later. Quote
sobo Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 1 fatality, multiple near misses with injuries (and some without) here in the Mazama area this weekend. Bad time to be outta bounds right now. Be safe, climb later. A snowmobiler, but apparently not highmarking. Washington's first avy fatality for this winter. Let's be careful out there... link to article in the WetSnatchy World ...By New Year's Day, the avalanche danger level in the North Cascades could rise to extreme — the highest avalanche danger level — after the biggest of three storms forecast for this week dumps more wet snow on the Cascades and across North Central Washington... fredrogers Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Sobo- This is the only reported incident via the press right now. See FONWAC.org for more detailed reports http://www.avalanchenw.org/info_exchange.html. Shit is sketchy. People being hit by naturals. Be safe. Quote
