Braydon Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Gustav!!! Wtf why did they have to give it such a gay name! It sounds like New Orleans is about to take it up the butt my Gustav. Couldn't they have picked a cooler name! Am I the only one who thinks this! Quote
Braydon Posted August 30, 2008 Author Posted August 30, 2008 well after looking at that it could have been worse... Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I think Gustav could have the most critical effect of all on the outcome of the presidential elections. - news of its wake could overshadow the Repub convention - McCain and Palin are already visiting the gulf coast - Gustav might make people forget about Katrina, because Gustav is the most recent ouchie - If response to Gustav gets handled well by the Repubs, that could be a big boost for their party. A poor response would doom them in November. Quote
carolyn Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 The Mayor's speech regarding mandatory evacs was pretty harsh, but necessary. Basically, Get the fuck out or fend for yourself. Quote
Fairweather Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I can't believe that guy is still the mayor. Quote
el jefe Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 why not, fairweather? bush is still the president... Quote
ivan Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 i can't see gustav helping the gop - it seems a direct hit on the big easy would likely destroy the town all over again, and the current gov will take huge criticism for not having fixed the goddamn levees despite the katrina disaster - true, it might well be the fault of the local/state gov, but the perception of incompetence of the reps at the national level will be all that matters Quote
AlpineK Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Random unplanned events always hurt the party in charge no matter if it's their fault or not. This new storm sounds like it could be pretty darn bad. Quote
TREETOAD Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 McCain and Palin are already visiting the gulf coast probably want to be the first in line for a new wide screen TV and some of that free beer that guy had last time. P.athetic, O.ld W.hiteguy Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 It's also kinda stupid to be visiting as FEMA is preparing.. any time FEMA spends with McCain is time not spent preparing. Quote
XXX Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Somehow the GOP will spin this hurricane story into a story of Mccain-Palin acting with armies of compassion to help the victims of the storm. I guess the "good" news for democrats is that another potent hurricane is off the coast of Florida as we speak. So basically for the next week hurricane coverage is going to dominate the media. Quote
