StevenSeagal
WTF is up with the sudden flood of St. Helens permit requests? Is there a convention in town or something?
Hugh Conway
people see temps in the 90s and think nothing like climbing barren volcano scree?
PR Quetzal
i want to go up, I cant without the pass, and the dates I can go are booked.
StevenSeagal
i want to go up, I cant without the pass, and the dates I can go are booked. Yeah I get that part. But there's been like 7 or 8 other similar requests in the last two days. It's an unusual number, and it's all from people who've never posted here before. Is Dave Matthews doing a crater rim concert or something?
olyclimber
Well, nothing wrong with asking. There are only a number of permits given out, and not everyone ends up using them. We actually might be working on a permit exchange of sorts for the people who give out the permits, whom have contacted CC.com with the idea. They may even be referring people looking for booked weekends to check here for people who aren't using them... I would like to see Wolfmother playing in the crater. PR Quetzal
I hope not...maybe the first 100 who signed up know something I dont. I was referred here by the Mt. St. Helen's Institute page: http://www.mshinstitute.org/climb-the-volcano/Permit%20Exchange
jshamster
So, if this is the new, hot place for St. Helens permits, can we get a separate forum cat. or something? There are currently five separate requests on the first page of the Climbers Board. Maybe move 'em to S. Cascades forum? Cheers. olyclimber
Due to its degree in prominence, I'm going to continue calling it a mountain. It maybe easier to "climb", its pretty a cool "peak".
olyclimber
Also, all requests for Permits (for where ever) can be found in the Permit Exchange.
pc313
This year my Cascades Volcano Annual Pass is no good for "Hill" ST. Helens even though it saids {this pass is valid for climbing fees at Mount St. Helens and Mt. Adams for the year issued} But I do like Mt. Adams, the all 12,276 FT.
