Jim Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Looking at the options. No TV cable needed just internet access. Friking comcast is $33 for 3 months then $59! Not cheap. Your exerience on DSL or cable? Quote
denalidave Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I have DSL out here in the gorge with no cable available and am really happy with it. The one complaint I here from city folk with cable is it bogs down in peak time because subscribers share the bandwidth. Since DSL is a dedicated line you don't run into that issue, at least that is my understanding of it. Quote
Jim Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 Watcha talking about P? Does DSL plus ISP = cable cost these days ($60/mo)? Quote
billcoe Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Check into getting cable for your phone carrier as part of an entire package. We didn't want it by itself due to cost, but with cable TV, internet and phone package: it was cheaper when compared to Verizon DSL and regular Qwest phone. (thats right, all 3 together were cheaper than just the 2 items we wanted and were already using). Now we have cable TV and it rules! Cable these days tends to be faster than DSL as well, they will tell you the speeds. Quote
sexual_chocolate Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 mobile high-speed internet might be an option to look at nowadays.... ~30 a month, and it's go-anywhere. but do i really wanna be surfing the internet at the beaches? Quote
billcoe Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Nice call, get an Iphone and if you need to borrow it, there usually Wi-fi floating around everywhere. My new neighbor worked for McCafee (the anti-virus - computer protector folks) one day I walk in and see the monkeys chattering as they're looking at the computer, I say " Whats up Monkeys?", Monkeys say "Nothin'" which translates to "we can't talk about it as it would seem improper to an elder person." I catch the drift and demand: "Come on, whats going on here?" Monkeys say they are downloading Animai from Japan and using the new neighbors connection as it's Cable and faster than our DSL. Trouble making Monkeys. Quote
