kevbone Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Anyone have experience with this? Can I bring the acoustic guitar in a hard case on the plane? Quote
Dechristo Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Maybe, if you're flying first class. I've always checked mine in with the other baggage. I have an SKB case and am confident in its protection. Quote
kevbone Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 What is an SKB case? We are going to Mexico....would you trust it going out of country? Quote
Dechristo Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Going outside the borders with instruments checked into baggage has never been a problem...for me. Quote
Dechristo Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I haven't seen an SKB large enough to fit the whole band in. Quote
kevbone Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 Going outside the borders with instruments checked into baggage has never been a problem...for me. Thanks for the info.....I do not want to go to Mexico for 10 days and not be able to play my guitar.... Quote
bstach Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Can I bring the acoustic guitar in a hard case on the plane? Take an "air" guitar. Ba-dump-bump! Quote
Dechristo Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I've shot one of those...with the drum mag and all. "Come and get it ya dirty coppers!" Quote
hafilax Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Do everything you can to carry it on. I checked my guitar flying to europe and the neck snapped at the headstock. I thought I had it packed pretty well but those baggage machines are brutal and they won't insure it. Quote
kevbone Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 I checked my guitar flying to europe and the neck snapped at the headstock. That is what I am scarred of..... Quote
hafilax Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Ya, my case sucks and SG's are fragile. Iverson did a good job repairing it though. Quote

Raindawg Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I think they'd be afraid that you might try to play it, or worse yet, play it and sing. Quote
kevbone Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 You can't live w/o your guitar for 10 days? You play right? So you can understand the fascination and obsession with playing right? I play/practice everyday. My son loves to hear the guitar.....sitting around the pool drinking foo foo drinks with umbrellas while playing flamenco is in my future..... Quote
denalidave Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I bet they already have a few guitars in Mexico, if you are that concerned about it. Quote
sobo Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Yah, and I'll bet that they're probably a lot cheaper than the one you're thinking about taking with you. Criminy, 'bone, it's only 10 days... buy a cheap one that you can play for a week, then give it to a street kid or an orphanage on your way out of country. Mebbe these guys could help you find that guitar-maker in the market square... Quote
