JayB Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Dean's fortunes tanked when he capped off the speech that was "like Rowdy Roddy Piper giving a geography lesson" with the emotional scream-heard-round-the-world. Many pundits are crediting Hillary's weepy moment with going a long way towards recapturing the chick-vote. How well would this work for a man? How does this compare with the original "Musky Moment"? Discuss. Quote
olyclimber Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 It wasn't the yell but how Dean pulled off the yell. If it didn't seem so un-aesthetic it would not have cost him. Hillary knows how to aesthetically cry. She practiced for months in front of a mirror to perfect it. A key gauge American's use to choose their leaders is how aesthetic the candidates display emotion. This is done at a unconscious level, as the apes we evolved from picked their leaders with the criteria. You simply can't have your leader, in the middle an attack by a neighboring tribe of gorillas have an emotional outburst that doesn't fit within the tribal expectation for such a thing. It could seriously impact the survivability of the tribe. On the other hand, properly formatted emotion can really bond the tribe, resulting in much better poo flinging. Quote

ZimZam Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 She just took a page from Bill's book. He was good for a tear when he campaigned. I makes people think that you're human. I saw W's eyes well up during a State of the Union address. Rodham's did seem a little theatrical though. And it was effective. Quote

Fairweather Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Could New England racism be the culprit? 99% New Hampshire whitey tells the pollster he's voting for Obama to publicly portray him/her self as open minded - then does something completely different in the privacy of the voting booth? Quote

ZimZam Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 It was women that handed her the vote, and the lack of youth vote that did Obama in. Not racism. Quote
